So you bought a Poo because you are a snowmobiler, is that stating that Yamaha is not a snowmobile? Or maybe everyone on here saying Yamaha is old and outdated and needs to build there own is correct?
Seems as you absolutely hit the nail on the head goofy600!

Yamaha designing and manufacturing a new chassis is never going happen. I just hope they continue to produce engines and supply them to more than just AC. One day down the road I will be looking at another sled I just hope whatever brand that may be it has a Yamaha motor in it.

Only longevity I see with Textron and Yamaha is if Yamaha has a lay down 4s designed to fit the Catalyst that would be interesting. Otherwise it’s procross and same old same old until no one wants them anymore. As you said that one day will come first me then dfattack moved on to doo for the best 4s new model. Yamaha had a good run with the Apex but in the end not enough sales to continue manufacturing so pulled the plug.

Yeah, well, my hope is that Textron/AC will produce their own, in house, 4-stoke engines. And these engines are engineered and designed to fit their AC chassis from the get go. Thus, this way being very well balanced snowmobile for excellent ride and handling. To do that you have to engineer, and design both chassis, and engine together, as one. Shoehorn, misfit, fitting doesn't cut the mustard for either. I firmly believe Textron/AC is fully capable, and equiped to be able to do this.

What does textron/ax use in their sxs? Could they possibly be looking like BRP did and one basic engine design to fit multiple platforms?

Goofy600, I'm really hoping that is the exact case! It's modern, modular design manufacturing. Textron/AC can do this for multiple applications, just as BRP has done.

Regardless of supplier AC Textron can only accept a lay down 4s anything else won’t fit in Catalyst as I understand the new platform.

The XX model has the Yamaha motor in it and has from the start in 2018. Their Prowler motor is a 812 cc that is as quiet as a car motor, seriously. Its pretty slow, but if they put a small turbo on it that would wake it up tremendously. Textron doesn't seem interested in the dirt side of products. Its a shame.

Textron/AC is so far behind in the 4 stroke game it would take a decade or more to catch up with Yamaha and Doo. Noone here has any insight on what these manufactures are up too, anyone's thoughts is just pure speculation and reckless babble IMHO.

You know I usually ignore most of what you say but I have to ask. Do you ever have anything nice to say? If people comment about you on here it’s usually in response to a comment that you made. Most of the time it seems like you are an intelligent guy who just has a chip on his shoulder. Everybody isn’t going to agree and everyone isn’t going to ride the same sled (thank God). You will most likely reply with some smart ass reply to me but I don’t care. I read some of your posts sometime and shake my head. For some reason this time I wanted to say something. I know goofy and he’s a good guy. I know euphoric1 and he’s not a lib as you proclaim. You do you I guess and I’m sure nobody can change you but if you would just use your intellect and not criticize while doing it maybe the conversation would become more constructive. Ok trash away.

I think this thread has pretty much covered the topic so let me share the following.....

" If you disagree with someone, you can state your point, but attacking someone personally is off limits. Besides, it is of little interest to anyone on this site but you anyway! Even brand bashing can be considered a personal attack. There are too many ways one can do a personal attack, so I will not give examples. To be safe, think of it this way: If you do not have something positive to say about someone, then don’t say it here!"

He was on a roll yesterday with his pothead statements, the above post was at 7:31p & then a Happy Birthday wish to ezra at 7:33p calling him a pothead as well. That attitude reminds me of the Grinch.

Wow this thread is like the real rail industry....off the tracks! I'm not a hater of other brands, I believe were all lucky to be riding these beautiful machines produced today no matter what brand or class. Doo and Poo are market leaders as they produce sleds for every type of rider in every class with multiple options. Yamaha is relying on the very successful 998 turbo 4 stroke motor in an AC chassis, that's basically it except for some rebranded AC off trail units. I like most think the end is near for Yamaha, but I have no clue at all just my opinion. I do believe the motor will find it's way into other brands but, maybe not, maybe just in Textron/AC units. The class of hyper sleds still exist and that motor is still class leading 10 years later, although Doo's 900 turbo R is right there. Like I said before, I will be in the market for a new sled down the road only time will tell what brand that will be, I know this I won't have blinders on! My only wish is that it will have that sweet 998 turbo 4 stroke Yamaha motor in it.
