Yes, it's an issue clearly related to these specific models. However, taken collectively with all the other quality/reliability issues that have been pervasive over the years with Cat--it certainly does speak to the general overall level of quality that the company accepts...
*They all suck* is a cop out--because clearly there are those that, as a company, produce a generally better quality more reliable product. You do know that component failure rates, etc...are things that are spec'd out in R&D, right? ...and different companies insist on taking the time/expense to do more extensive testing to work out issues before the product is released to the field? Here's what objective analysis tells you on overall quality/reliability...
1) Yamaha
2) Polaris
3) Bombardier
4) Cat
