Are You Staying In Or Getting Out?

I cannot see ever not riding a sled. Not only am I a true addict I have nothing else that interests me in the winter months.

Running Doo oil in the weed wacker helps ease the cravings in the summer months but still I countdown the days unti the trails are open. Beside even if my interest does drop as I get older my 12 year old will keep me in it as long as possible.

I look forward to getting old and retiring so I can ride during the week!!!

But it is the leopard seat cover that hooked me in. Oh, and mod graphics really makes me crave one. Wow way groovy.

I am sure we will be able to find some leopard gauntlets! I had a stuffed monkey hangin on to my grab bar part of the season then someone swiped it at tip up town.

I hear you Saber. You don’t have to be old to retire (unless your working for the man). I have been semi retired for a few years (due to the economy). Ready to come out of it any time. Lol. Riding during the week is the best. Rip it up for the weekend warriors.

Everything seems to get stolen at Tip up town. I had a brand new 86 SRV stolen there, never been back. It should be named "Drunks and theives on ice".

Oh, Listen to White Drizzle.....like he is commizzerat'n about the high costs of sledd'n and think'n of gett'n out.....

Next fall he will be down lookin over the next generation of technology....and the only....ONLY thing that will change is the old guy will prolly elect to get a sled with POWERRRRR STEER'N.....

Trust me folks.....he ain't goin no place!

I'm with Big Vin on this one.....so the grass is growing so fast it thinks it's corn....lawn mower blades need sharpening AGAIN! Skeeters big as chickens and they haven't even begun to hatch the new batch yet.

Ticks stick'n, dog tongue hang'n days are for really really old guys that can't see over the steering wheel....go ahead go on down there to gods wait'n room....get some of that basil cell carcenoma.....drive around in water YOU CAN"T drink.....stuff eats up everything.....and did you EVER do Xmas in shorts??? Some folks just don't know any better.....that's all.

I was at camp in northern Ontario two weeks ago, and on a Monday morning it was snowing softly and looked like xmas outside....no bugs....no grass, just a nice crackle of the wood stove fire.....I wouldn't trade that for all the sunburns in Florida....

But dang....if more guys did leave, that leaves more room in the woods for me!

So go for it White stuff.....open a clinic down there and you and ezra can sell dope....gunna fit right in.....just leave the keys to that cruiser handy....might want to barrow that beast....just to keep the carbon burned out of it don't yah know!!

Since I'm geographically challenged with snowfall accumulation, it makes no sense for me to own a sled. So, I will continue to do what I've done for the past seven years straight - fly to Wasssau, rent a car, drive to the rental house or cabin in da UP, rent a sled, have the time of my life for a few days, go back home and dream about going again next year. A little research, planning ahead and tucking a few dollars away throughout the year is a must. I guess it all depends on how much you truly love not just the sport of snowmobiling, but everything else that it encompasses (great people, places, scenery, etc).

I'm always in! In fact am working today on adapting my ATV ramp for my Doo. Will be hauling the sled in the truck rather than trailering as much. All it takes is several 90 plus days in a row - then I look forward to winter!

I'm not going anywhere. Snowmobiling even with the gas prices is still way cheaper than my summer habit of salmon fishing. Riding a 4 stroke nowadays really cut the cost down on riding. Gas for the sled isn't even an issue. i spend way more at the bars and on food.

In forever! Only issue is now we have kids to take with and one needs a sled of her own soon but it is what it is. I look at this way, it's family time well spent. The best part for me is spending time in the shop doing something to one of the sleds with my youngest helping me. Priceless!

Last year was a depressing year for sledding for us. Everytime we planned a guy trip someones father or mother passed away. When we were able to go the snow wasnt good. I have almost forgot what it feels like being up in the huron mountains early in the morning snowing heavily and powder coming over the hood. As far as the expense goes . When you go with 4 people and split the costs its not too bad. Lodging costs nothing we stay at my camp. The year before schedules conflicted and i think we got 1 ride in . For now im in but if my riding buddies dont free up some time this year i may be in the market for some new riding partners .

Hate to see some of you go. 40th yr. Of riding and only getting better. Snow checked RMK was a little over$ 11,000. Priceless. You only live once. The memories are worth much more than the sled price. I like to trick out my sled, cannot do that with a rental. I tend to total out rentals much faster than the sleds I own. Sounds as if some are having the summer time blues. Rule #1 Do not have a sled that requires payments. Nothing sucks like paying on a sled for 6-8 months as it sits in the garage.

X'2 on the hate to see you go. Even if the sled is gone you still have your computer!

Oh it's not gone gone. New sled is on it's way. I will always have a sled. Just setup my 2nd out west trip for this coming winter, today. while feeding the ducks behind the boat.

No, I was talkin bout white dust. His two cents are always welcome. If you ever left the sport I would want first dibs on your collection of die cast sleds and assorted snowmobile memorabilia!!!!

Snow monkey I'm in for another year & will take it from there. Also thinking about trying some club rides next season & see how that goes. I'll still ride alone a lot too but maybe not as far as I have in the past. When I'm 100+ miles from home on my own people think I'm nuts! A little nuts I'm sure!:)

Your next sled

Whitedust, if you need a deal and you want to upgrade, let me know - I might be interested in letting the '09 LTX GT go. Still in mint shape and close by. Think about it and we can talk before the season. My preference would be to sell the Vector and that was the plan, but I am flexible, so let me know if I can help.

Face it dude, you aren't going anywhere, any more than I am. I love FL and the gulf shores of AL, but I'm not sure I could handle that heat in the summer anymore. It gets pretty intense down there from June to Sept.

I am in a quandary… My wife’s health sucks and she will loose her health insurance in November. My head tells me to sell the sleds and save all the money we can for medical bills. My sleds are 03 Frontier and a 01 Classic that was my dad’s last sled before he passed. They aren’t worth much in dollars however they are the only “play” things left.

I keep thinking that God will lead me to what I need to do. I guess the answer is in my head and selfishness is in my heart.

To worry is to not trust God

Bob
