The first time we were in Bergland was at night and we couldn't figure it out, you end up just following tracks and you then realize you are probably going where you shouldn't. Its a good way for a innocent person that wants to do the right thing have a run in with a pxxxx off cop. That's one major problem with sleds, see a bunch of tracks and you think its OK when many times it's not

PD I agree there are signs and the trail is easy enough to find no reason not to be on roads. As for you saying your not going back because of the cops I would do like Tom's post said go slow and don't give them a reason to pull you over. It kind of sounds like they only want to get the ones that are being A-holes not everyone. My .02

We always get gas at the Hoop, the station on the Highway is a Pain to get in and out of. I also only ride in that area in March, after the chit show has left town.

Don't break the law, very simple concept . I'm glad the cops are over there,it's been a free for all over in that area for years.

its all on purpose......they COULD just put up one sign that says this

YOU MUST TAKE THE TRAIL AND CROSS AT ANTONIO’S RESTAURANT TO ACCESS THE GAS STATION. THANK YOU***

and the reverse to leave....but they love the money

I got pulled over by one of the fish cops last week because I was riding the shoulder on the highway. He was fair and friendly, let me go with a warning.

It is not easy to navigate around the town. Mud holes and lack of grooming have hurt riding in the area.

BTW, I am shocked by all the lights on the Officer sled. That thing could have lighted a long stretch of highway with Christmas colored lighting.

Ranger Walker?????

Can't say that I don't blame homeowners if streets have been declared non trail accessible. However, they should go after the township, DNR, clubs etc for better signage too. Maybe some business can push harder as they will suffer if the fuzz stays around to long. Sledders will definitely stay away ie; Minocqua and Hurley.

Too many people have the attitude of " I'm on vacation, I can do whatever I want." The lack of respect is overwhelming.

Oh yea, don't get me going on this or else I'll blow a gasket! No common decency either! What you do and how you act effects others people in many ways! I'll just stop there.......

The access trails are confusing and the signage is poor, seems like they could improve it easily if they wanted.

What a shame. This is only my 4th year riding and have seen a lot of "****-heads" on and off the trails. Thanks for the post, because we ride through Bergland on our way to White Pine and Silver City. We always stop at the gas station there. I agree that they need to post better signage in that area.

I agree. We were riding on other tracks when we were stopped. There were no good signs to indicate where we should ride and the lake was slush. Not going to take that risk.

you live in the upper pennisula of michigan and you hate winter sports?you don't own a snowmobile?why would you live there?

I'm sure the "you need us and I make more money than you attitude" wears on people. I know I have been with guys on trips with that pathetic attitude. We have all witnessed it.

Its very simple and this happens everywhere and in every town... Local people are complaining that the sledders are not staying on the trails so someone is called in to patrol problem. The town has no local police force so guess who comes in??? The State/ County/ Forest Circus Police... I'd guess the town itself isn't getting too rich off these tickets... LOL the town isn't the one skrewn ya over its the sledders that either cant find the trail or don't wanna find the trail are simply the problem...
