I bet 95 percent of the peeps that go through that town, just want gas or to get an awesome beef. They don't want to leave the trail. The signage stinks and why can't the gas station help put up more signs? They have to be making money from sledders.

are you sure you wanna know why the signage is no good? in watersmeet the same occurs at the gas station and bar...bergland it might be Antonio s or the gas station.....but lets say some locals were sitting in there....and they see you go the wrong way....theres a quick call and the cops arrive....issue a ticket....next week sometime....at that place...someone might say here elmer....heres for the 5 you spotted to buy another round.....just sayin

Now add snow piles 6 feet high with it snowing and everything white without signs, and it's a whole different story. I'm not talking about those of us that have been up there several times. It's all the first or second timers trying to find their way to the station and back to the trail

funny story aboot this....I knew this was going on in watersmeet with the reservation cops....so at the bar at the gas station I over heard em talking how they was gonna get us....so I went along the road on purpose leading us all but before I instructed them all to stay tight to me if anything happened....low and behold blue and red lights came on.....I took off and lead em all on a wild goose chase....I knew they would go up ahead to where the trail crosses the road....so I doubled everyone back to the bar and we all thru snow on the hoods to make it look like we been there a while....here they come down the road.....there they go south.....run outside look at bar all locals with jaws dropped inside.....fire em up...took off north up the highway laughing all the way.....gone.....no pay day that week for 6 sleds.....I love it...try an out smart the TRACKER

Just a comment on this tread...if a situation doesn't seem at all complicated enough in real time/life....just post it on the appropriate website and watch the fireworks display!!!

I started this thread not to create complaining but to make you all aware of the ordinance around town. I cannot speak for the trail markings. I just want to make you all aware so you don't get a ticket is all. You can still have lots of fun while obeying the law and respecting the locals. Bergland is a great place to ride and has been for years. Everyone on here is great and probably don't need to be told much, but I can tell you this year has been trying for a lot of locals and the businesses. Everyone just wants to be respected and I know we can all agree on that. We want everyone to come here snowmobiling, that's why we put out information so we all can keep enjoying the sport in the U.P. It's still pretty untamed as far as being able to ride on and off trail. Let's not take that for granted, as soon as we do the off trail fun and maybe even some trails through private land will be gone. We're all on the same team here so let's just make each other aware of right and wrong and call out the disrespectful ones when we see them. Lets ride and have fun, winter is here!!!

X2 Kip can't agree more info only turns into insanity. Thanks for everything you do for the sport.

Sorry, I find nothing funny about this story. Would it still have been funny if you, members of your party, or the cops ended up dead or injured as a result of you getting your jollies from a "wild goose chase"? Have to agree that stuff like this part of the reason sledding gets a black eye.

Oh come on guys lighten up, I'm an old fart too, but maybe you're all too "long in the tooth", because that was funny as hail, true or not, it took some imagination to write it. I was literally LMAO.
