I understand where they are coming from fortunately were in Trout lake and for the most part there are zero issues. But there are always the bad apples no matter where you go its gonna happen I've been cussed out for a guy getting stuck in the snow fence we out up out by the ice to keep the bad apples out of the yard. Mind you if was VERY VISIBLE lol we have all our gardens n so on out there and the only time I ride through is on the 4 wheeler to go out ice fishing and the fence goes right up behind me. I've had people knock on our door at 2 am asking for us to help get him unstuck from our plow mound all sorts of craziness oh well hopefully they do some better work on there signs we typically avoid that town whenever possible last 2 times we've gone into town got a ticket for a loud pipe and another for my buddy going over the speed limit. Which we were not but that's neither here nor there. Just my opinion hope everyone has a good night !!!!

If you have a loud can these days, you are part of the problem. Take it off and find a different way to get your extra HP.

What really gets me about cans, is them guys blipping the throttle in town. When leaving the gas station or restaurant. Its one thing to have loud exhaust, but then to make it sound off for no other reason than to make noise is STUPID, and it makes the whole sport look bad

Been 2 years since I was thru there , but the signage was really bad , & those railroad tracks really throw you off which side to be on and especially then all the plow piles blocked what little signage there was .. It's never been a well marked town in my view for years ..

If the signage is poor, contact the town chairman, MSA, DNR or the local snowmobile club/grooming organization and plead your case in a positive manner. If there's no resolution and you're scared of getting a ticket because the signage is poor, stay away from Bergland as others have said.

As far as the breathalizing goes, I'm all for it! Drinking and driving is illegal and puts everyone's life at risk. These things are dangerous enough the way it is, then you throw alcohol into the mix and it's a recipe for disaster. To be honest, I wish there would be more law enforcement officers at road crossings giving breathalyzer tests...anything to keep the drunks off the trail and keep the sport safe. If you look at the Wisconsin snowmobile deaths, out of the 30 or so that unfortunately lose their lives every year, there's usually only 3 or 4 where speed and alcohol WASN'T a factor. Because of this, I'm deathly afraid to take my 13 year old son out on the trails, which is very unfortunate.

If we don't police ourselves out there, the government will. Please be safe, don't drink and drive and ride right.

Kip, never met you but I would surmise that you are a stand up guy, old school. I am sorry that you have had to deal some very ugly people who shock me with their behavior. Had I been present for either one of those altercations, I surely would have spoke my mind.

Most on this site would have done the same, I think we're mostly good people on this site.

Anyway, hope you deal with some good customers and renters for a while and restore your faith in mankind! I'll be up in Feb and will stop by to buy something and say Hi.

As far is the Bergland issues, I have been going here for the last 6 years, never had a problem. Although, I could see coming from the BBQ place heading to BBB that one could easily drive on the road and I have done it many times. Always come in the morning from the lake and then to Antonio's for breakfast so getting gas is a straight shot. Just still to the trails, don't be a jackass and everything will be good!

Its usually a rider on a 10+ year old sled worth $1,500 making all the racket. Does any rider really need to blip, blip, blip every two seconds?
And while I am at it, what is it with the riders that leave a pile of snow after crossing every road? And then, hold the throttle to the handlebars and leave a six inch trough in the snow for a quarter mile?
Le Douche?

These are people that have no respect for the sport, the trail they're on or other riders. Gets my goat, too.
Le Douche? YES!!!!!!

Wow , maybe some of us should just remain in are cars instead of having fun. Or better yet move to bergland and complain for 2 months.

I started this thread not to create complaining but to make you all aware of the ordinance around town. I cannot speak for the trail markings. I just want to make you all aware so you don't get a ticket is all. You can still have lots of fun while obeying the law and respecting the locals. Bergland is a great place to ride and has been for years. Everyone on here is great and probably don't need to be told much, but I can tell you this year has been trying for a lot of locals and the businesses. Everyone just wants to be respected and I know we can all agree on that. We want everyone to come here snowmobiling, that's why we put out information so we all can keep enjoying the sport in the U.P. It's still pretty untamed as far as being able to ride on and off trail. Let's not take that for granted, as soon as we do the off trail fun and maybe even some trails through private land will be gone. We're all on the same team here so let's just make each other aware of right and wrong and call out the disrespectful ones when we see them. Lets ride and have fun, winter is here!!!

I bet 95 percent of the peeps that go through that town, just want gas or to get an awesome beef. They don't want to leave the trail. The signage stinks and why can't the gas station help put up more signs? They have to be making money from sledders.

Can someone please help these poor lost souls out and post an updated video of the snowmobile routes through town? I confess I haven't been UP there in a few years, but for as long as I can remember, the trail through town has always followed along Railroad st, then from the lake though the park area along Ash st to the gas station. I have no plans to get UP that way anytime soon or I would do it myself. Wouldn't even need to be on a sled to do it.

Update; Interestingly, a quick look on YouTube and I found this. It is a few years old but you get the jist. The first three minutes shows the route from the Mobil out to trail 8. The last few minutes shows coming off the lake back to the gas station.
