I've been told by people that own a Timber that they absolutely suck on the trail and in low snow conditions. You still need to own a sled too.

when I was a kid I had a Chrysler made SNO RUNNER, a mush smaller bike like machine, NO shocks, had like a dual ski set up one to steer with and then one under the food pegs like and then a track
when I was a kid I ran the snot out of that things, I ran MX bikes all summer and wish OH so bad they came out with bigger HP machine and SHOCKS,

the old SNO runner had a snow condition flaw, needed 5-8 inches, any more or less and was useless LOL

the disadvantage of this thing I see is, I doubt it can be made into a BIKE for summer months as other kits allow
, making owning a little more reasonable for average folks to justify costs!
as I doubt its a cheap ride
have to admit IF I had the $$ to blow, I would own one LOL

so NOT bashing at all

looks like fun toy

there is no reason U could not turn it back to a shurco trail bike. I would bet 500 right now it will be a option in the catalogue shortly

When I was riding around Twin Lakes in early Feb. there was a crew, like usual, staying at Krupps that were doing mostly off trail boondocking. They call themselves Team Hi Life and have a FB page with some neat videos. We ran into them 2-3 times when we stopped for fuel and some snacks. They claimed there was a group from Timberline riding in the areas they were and said they were totally amazed at those snow bikes. One guy said "they can go places we can only dream of. They totally showed us up."

A high-up source within the Wisconsin AWSC says that because this is a purpose built machine for snowmobile trails, it will be legal under the current definition of the law.

There will likely be a debate, purpose built or Sherco 450 conversion?

EDIT - I may have taken your post the wrong way.

Per this same source, conversions ARE NOT allowed. I should have said that and I apologize for not giving out complete information.

There is nothing to debate right now. It's written in the laws. BUT....as always....enforcement will be an issue.

I'll stick to sleds...

A.) Because I suck at riding dirt bikes

B.) Because it's a challenge

C.) Because they have more power

I feel like a bike would be a blast but it would get old, especially in the UP as it's already a battle finding the terrain to challenge yourself on a 155".

I was just thinking that the pro trail guys will claim it's purpose built and the anti trail guys will claim it's just a Sherco 450 converted, not purpose built.

Looks Awesome!
Something different and sort of new, so the hate will start, legal/illegal, wrecking the Trail, high speed crash's, ect.
Ran into a crew of mixed long sleds and snowbikes at Towg this year and it looked like the bikes were easier to ride and could go a lot more places then the sleds could, with the exception of going straight up big hills, the bikes could do it but would have to side hill it.
Would not worry too much about the trails for now as someone mentioned the bikes at this point are not really designed for it and they are slow.

A bike like this can be a LOT more challenging I think than a sled for sure, you need a LOT more balance and eye hand foot coordination
gravity plays a bigger roll in things when your upright over a sled that stays up right on its own!
so agree there
but like all toys, there all different
and we humans are all different, we all like different things

way I see it is, IF it brings MORE folks to the snow sports, we all benefit

when we fight each other in like , like activity's we all end up suffering with wasting money/funds fighting, rather than developing more trails or access or???

don't like them, fine, but remember some folks don't like sleds too,

just enjoy what YOU like, and let others enjoy what they like I say,and we all benefit more in the long run!

snowmobiling sport isn't a BIG booming sport anymore, less and less folks getting into it, and that will lead to less and less places to ride

bring on the snow bikers I say, and there $$$, can only make things better
want more challenging terrain on your sled, ditch bang the bike ruts then LOL

Hopefully illegal.
Just what we need, 11 inch ruts down the trail.

U sound like u may be a board member of MNUSA. we should bring back bogie wheel only trails

not much to debate the cert of origin from the manufacture will say it all. the grumpy old men just did not have the four site to see manufactures jumping in to the only growing segment in the sport. to bad so sad now go spend more of my money to get the law makers to change the wording again

That's it,time to ban everything from the trail. From here on out, groomers can only be on the trails. Loud cans, picks, mountain sleds, timber sleds, anything that goes fast,FiBS ( not sure why guys from Idaho always get picked on?). Did I miss anything ?

Just add moose and mohawks and I think we have it covered. :)
