I always notice Polarisrider1 "best" posts come in between midnight and 3 am. :)

Hey Indy, do you drive a $25,000 dollar truck, own a $5,000 trailer, ride a $10,500 snowmobile, have $1200 in gear, $1,000 in accessories, and have $2,000 in vacation money? Didn't think so.

ahhhh,good one skylar!
.........but I would wager most people on this board do.

my point is most people dont run ANYTHING based on price alone. just about every pro S&S post is about how much less expensive it is. I'm all for saving money. but I'm happy with the product I now use and its price.
I would'nt pick a brain surgeon based on price,so why oil??

okay,I'm moving on now.

saving

im on gallon #6 right now between my 3 sleds and expect to go thu maybe 3 or 4 more. so if i have saved 30 bucks a gallon. I.ll save 300 this year. What ever happend to Superturbodiesel? he always had a lot to say on this topic?

I got an idea...Why don't we just shut the **** up about what oil we use? It's my money and I will buy what ever I want. This topic should be considered off limits like snowmobile brand bashing.

Have a nice day.

How come there aren't any studies on this? I would think one of the magazines would look into this. I go with amsoil but it's probably more to do with the fact that I don't know enough to trust buying the cheaper stuff. I only ride 1500 miles a year or so, so it doesn't really add up to that much. Plus all my riding buddies use it so it's more convenient. But if I'm throwing my money away, I'd like to know.

Dave M...that video is the funniest flippin thing I've seen on the JD in a loooonnnggg time. Still wiping my eyes.

The S&S oil debate is like liberals and conservatives....both have points and neither backs down. Buy what you like, but bashing data is...well frankly ignorant.

S&S is the best VALUE oil out there. NOT ONE...repeat, NOT ONE person on this blog has ever posted a bad result from S&S oil (at least that I've seen in 4 years)....including me. The oil data sheet and rating is what it is...excellent and approved by all manufacturers. Now opinion, personal brand preference, Chavez issues and dealer recommendations are all factors to not buy it if you choose.

So, buy what you like and PLEASE choose to let data speak for those looking to make oil decisions on the JD blogs. Potty mouth opinions are adolescent at best.....

Now if I could just get S&S in SE mich....that would be a good thread.

What is the recommended oil for Polaris snowmobiles in terms of the rating?

I noticed citgo S&S is good for API TC, JASO FD and ISO EGD, but not recommended for TC-W3, WII or W.

Amsoil HP injector is recommended for TC-W3 and API TC, while interceptor is recommended for API TC and JASO FC.

This is all just a bunch of letters to me, but I'm curious what is recommended for Polaris. Of course the owners' manual just says Polaris VES.

Jaso is Japanese Standard, ISO is European.

"D" is the latest test requirements for both (A,B,C and then D). Jaso "FD", Iso "EGD" are the latest and greatest .The "D" needs to meet higher detergency requirement and make less smoke. Citgo S & S are rated for this. Amsoil is only "C" rated, or at least that is what their website says. So if you go by the ratings, Citgo is a better oil.

BTW, I just switched to it on my XP 800r. Sled runs the same, I just have more money to spend on Klim gear.
