What is the recommended oil for Polaris snowmobiles in terms of the rating?

This is all just a bunch of letters to me, but I'm curious what is recommended for Polaris. Of course the owners' manual just says Polaris VES.

Funny how Polaris doesn't have any ratings listed for "their" oil on their oil containers, in the manual or on their website (I was unable to find any.)

From the looks of the ratings on the Citgo S&S and Arctic Blue's Synthetic Blend, both look to be fine for use in your Polaris (with or without the power valves) or other 2-cycle sled engines. I noticed A-B's pour point is -60*F, lower than most oils that I have seen.

That video in post #41 was great!

I am still around. I have been working out of town. Due to the distance I have been putting in a lot of hours. No internet at the place I am staying. I missed you guys so I had to find a place to plug this puter into tonight. I rode my RMK last night. (Of course I took it with me). Melt down is starting over here in lower MI. Also Nice Video! lol.

POOPOO1...hats off to you for being a respectful blogger. I know a few on here that would have not been so willing to laugh at themselves. Your man card is INTACT!! And the great thing about blogs is you keep learning new tricks of the trade....For example, You could always poor S&S in your Amsoil bottle and buy some new Klim gear too. ;-)

Keep the track side down and no plastic in the woods.

I have not actually been able to find S&S oil around Grand Rapids, MI. I am sure I could have gallons delivered to me at the JDee ride in though. lol. The re-bottle idea sounds sweet. I bought a new funnel today just for that! (that's my Dutch blood side speaking). Anyways, I can't find this elusive thing called "sea foam" in my area either. Is that like Stabil? I suspect some of these products are Regional items. I would love to have a "White Castle" or a Sonic , Shoneys or Waffle house in my area too! 40 degrees in GR today. Not good.

You can find Sea & Snow oil at Kamp Oil in Grand Rapids, they have gallons and quarts in cases in stock right now. Don't have the number handy...just Google them they have a web site.

You should be able to find Sea Foam at Auto Zone or Advance Auto....probably Murray's too, though I haven't checked there.

For those looking for Sea and Snow in SE Michigan, Beebe Oil in Shelby Township has it, $55 for a 4-gallon case.

Perhaps....but it's the only place close that I know of to get it, and it's still a heck of a lot less expensive than $50 a gallon for OEM oil or $30 a gallon for another well-known (but unnamed to protect the innocent) brand.

We need to quit talking about this now when I go to Farm and Fleet they are always out. Could only get 6 quarts today. Wanted to buy 6 gallons since I will be riding my Skidoo for another since it still has warranty.

If you spend $10,000 or more on a sled and can't afford 1 or 2 gallons a year $50.00 or less all the oils are good, some smoke a little less. You need to give up snowmobiling. My new Polaris sled should get 1,000 miles per gallon. Blue Marble is one of the best more money who cares.
This is the last thing I would worry about, matter what brand oil you use it will not make your sled faster.

Nobody said anything about not being able to afford it. But why spend more on one oil when another will do just as good a job, for less? I'd rather put that extra savings into more fuel, beer (for AFTER riding, just so nobody takes it the wrong way), etc., than into overpriced oil.

I looked at the sea & snow product information. It states that S&S is certified for JASO FC but it said it is recommended snowmobile engines where JASO FD is preferred. Is there much of a difference between FC and FD?

Seems like no one has had any engine failures as a result of this oil, but I'm trying to understand all the ratings info before buying it. $13/gallon vs. $36/gallon is hard to argue with.
