Relax, I didn't realize he did also? I was referring to Walker is who I heard say it. Many Gov's do likewise. "Key word", eh?
It was Doyle.... he was the "FEE" master. Auto and every other motor vehicle registration "FEES" nearly tripled under his supervision.

It seems like it used to be that the Keweenaw was cushioned from trail pressure because it is so damn far for basically anyone living in a population center of any size. I mean I guess it’s not too bad a drive for Duluth/Wausau/Green Bay folks, but those aren’t even mid-sized cities, are they’re still each quite a ways away. For most everyone else it is a SLOG to get up there.

The reality of most needing to plan a trip at least a couple-few weeks ahead of time means no one is gambling with lodging deposits and vacation time, and everyone is just saying eff it to rolling the dice on northern WI/MN and northern lower MI. Heck, sometimes you even have exclude the lower half of the UP. Been through Bruce Crossing MANY times on the way to the Kee and see their trails are literally bare gravel.

Personally, I love the Kee; however, I really miss the variation and discovery of other riding areas, but I’m not taking the chance.

Some other great riding areas are even worse. Try planning a sled trip to the Black Hills more than 7-10 days out (if that). They can go from perfect conditions to mud within a few days - even in Jan or Feb. It’s like playing Russian Roulette with your money and time off.
