Am thinking about buying the ski doo touring ACE next week. Ski doo claims a 29 mpg performance or about 300 miles per tank. Anybody have one or know someone who how has an ACE that reaches these performance numbers?

ps-what would trade in value of an 06 skidoo touring gtx with 5000 miles on it in good condition fetch? (that is my current sled)

these sleds are new this year, I doubt the claims of 29 mpg but that would depend on many factors such as overall weight of sled and driver, snow depth, riding style, elevation and many others. My guess is that this sled will do better than most with normal driving conditions and prove to many that you can have fun and get good miliage

Well I doubt it unless you were in perfect conditions with a tailwind but it should be pretty impressive regardless. Doo claims 18mpg on there 4-Tec and my brother's GSX was closer to 15mpg and his new 4-Tec Gade is showing about 16mpg after break in. I would bet 25mpg will be achievable in normal riding conditions with the ACE.

Every article I have read on these (about 4 so far) have all said the same thing, "There is no fun factor" with that engine. It's 60hp so good for young or older riders.

Who knows ACE may go the way of the legend........ True 60hp not much but then again a turbo might be interesting.

Well Im going to find out soon. A dealer in michigan is giving me $2800 for my skidoo touring 06 with 5k miles on it and the price is $8500 on the touring 4 stroke....less the trade in.....Sound like a good deal?

I will be happy if i can get 25mpg. The engine runs real quiet it sounds like as well.

Im after a quiet engine and gas mileage...and comfort..the backrest in the far back can be moved forward for a single rider I found out.....will install a heated seat as well from warmseat....now how do i get a microwave on it? lol

What motor does your GTX have? Is it the 500SS which is the 600 carb or is the SDI. You can do better than $2,800 if you sell it if its in good shape. Nice used 2-up are kinda hard to come by. I am in the market to update my wife from the 2001 Grand Touring 500 (liquid) she currently rides but need to wait until tax refund time.

Its a 550 cc.....5500 miles......what i like about trade in is that it reduces the sales price, thus reducing the taxes on the purchase..you need a premium when you sell it outright imo.....you mean someone would give me $3500 for it? i doubt it.....

You are saving yourself around $150 in sales tax @5.5%. So $3500 would definitely be a premium price. If you sold it for $3k it would be a wash. Dealer would probally come down on price if you have cash in your hand also. Not that any of this matters. I'm just bored. I think that sled with the 600ace would be pretty neat. Definitely if you're not worried bout speed and are just into cruising in comfort. ****, I used to have a blast when I rode a 30hp sled.

$2,800.00 is a good trade in price for that sled, It probably a $3,200 machine, maybe a bit more at a dealer.. The price on the ace is good for a regular joe blow customer.. Certainly not a rip off. I would move ahead, ace has been compared to the 550 fan before, so the mileage and quietness should greatly improve your riding experience.

Have fun!

That is what I felt. Trade in for sure was 2k at most dealers but this one gave me $2800,,,so I went for it...Some dealers had the ACE as high as $8900as well..Picking it up next Tuesday and will know by end of week if it does do 29mpg!!!!!

They said the backrest is able to move forward behind the driver on it, but from the pics, i dont see how it is possible...I want a backrest behind the driver.....

Am also going to have them install a seat warmer under the seat...and have them install a 12v adapter...Dont think it comes with one....

I offered them cash as well, they said it doesnt matter.....cash or check

Well here we go. Talked to the salesman today, and now he says it does not have the adjustable backrest (I told him that I didnt think it was yesterday but he called me and said it did (ski-doo expert, huh??)

And now he says I have to go to another town in michigan to pick it up. Its a 3 hour ride one way to this new dealer and i told him to get it to his location r or i am going to complain to the michigan better business bureau about bait and switch tactics....will be calling him tomorrow....we have a deal and he better be honoring it......stay tuned..he has a 500 dollar down payment from me on my credit card

I wont say the name yet of the dealer. He may be getting some bad publicity from me here.....

WOW that is wacky!! Never told you about the other dealer?? Whenever I did inter dealer new sled buy the local dealer took his truck & brought back the sled from wherever & set it up then sold it to me from his shop. You are right bait and switch for sure. The other dealer is not going to let you just take this sled without paper & money exchange. Lots of open details & smells very fishy better do some checking before you proceed with this guy.

The dealer has 3 locations, so it is not an interdealer exchange it looks like.
It is a large dealer so lets see what they say tomorrow. Something will be worked out.

If that deal doesn't work out for you....what you are looking for is already available thru CAT.

Look for a good used 660 four stroke two up sled. Those sleds got..and still get better than 24 mpg, have a rear seat that comes off giving you a ton of space to haul stuff...suit case, duffle bag, couple 5 gallon gas cans...etc, and they are bullet proof.

You won't have the lay out the big bucks either. They are dead quiet, start in the coldest weather, and will go all day on a 13 gallon tank of gas.

Oh, and they come standard with 12vt socket.

I think that they stopped making those 3 cylinder sleds in 2006. Unlike the newer sleds that have the twin engine, you can pull the plugs easily, change the oil easily, and all the parts are pretty inexpensive and the engine and chass...have been around a long time.
