foggy's great stop across from hotel.
I heard new owners maybe are waiting for liquor license. D/K
Last year (all 15 minutes of it), they did not have the license. However they just took ownership at that time and should have it now, website shows the bar still open.

They’ve been running 2-3 groomers daily for weeks. Just way too much traffic. I passed two groomers tonight and after 5 sleds you couldn’t tell. They run every trail twice on weekends, if you hit it early morning tomorrow guarantee it will be great.
Its amazing how people still don't realize that lake effect snow doesn't groom well. Those groomers go through a trail and just a few groups can make it look bad.

I rode the Western UP Wednesday and Thursday before they started getting more lake effect snow. A few rocks but better trails. Now all the trails are getting rough with the additional snow and way more sleds.

They do NOT have their liquor license and I don’t think they ever will get it. Previous owner transferred ownership to his son who is a felon and that’s why the state revoked their license allegedly. They are open however business sounds slower.

Wow. It has been a standard stop for us on our first night (only 15 miles from camp). Appreciate your update. The open/available bars/restaurants continues to decrease year over year. I think I need to have a visit with the guy who owns most of Munising to find out the lay of the land…

As promised guys, got a ride report although it’s nothing special as we didn’t put big miles on, finally brought the little dude with for his first ever trip/ride solo! We stayed in Munising at pictured rocks inn&suites. Got up there Saturday mid/late morning. Took off east on 419 thru wetmore, and down the connector to the grade in 8. Then headed west until we hit the trail 7 intersection, and headed south to the buckhorn for a small late lunch. Afterwards we headed back up 7 and then headed west on 7/8, then north up 7, and back east on 419. Beautiful scenery just to the west of town on 419. Was a little over 40 miles and the little dude was wiped. Trails were fairly whooped out (it’s mid day riding on a Saturday in the only area in the Midwest with good snow), but he did pretty good and got better with every mile!

Saturday evening after the groomer ran thru, me and my dad did a night ride, went west on 419, south on 7, and then west on 8 towards Chatham until we hit the 417/8 intersection then turned around and rode the same way back. Definitely got thinner as we headed west, but it is rideable starting in Chatham. We followed freshly groomed trail this entire time, but it was very soft and squishy, not your typical enjoyable freshly groomed trail.

This morning I woke up early and took the little man’s 600 ace for a rip on freshly groomed crisp trails. I took the exact route we did Saturday when we got up there, with the exception of heading down to the buckhorn. Trails were absolutely mint and firm.

Then, got back and we all went out and ran that same loop again but backwards. All was EXCELLENT except The last couple miles from wetmore to “in town” in Munising was very sloppy on the way back with the increase in traffic and slight rise in temps. Got back around noon and headed home in time to watch abysmal Packer game! Little dude did SO MUCH better today, doubled his speed easily. The smooth trails and less traffic were definitely a huge help, as was he didn’t have to sit in a truck for 3.5+ hrs right before hopping on a sled. Halfway around the loop this morning he stopped and asked how many miles to go and I told him about a dozen and he was furious that we were heading back and had to go home because he was having a ton of fun with the better conditions.

Very pumped for our next much longer weekend trip in 2 weeks with him, going to finally head west to the Root Cellar! Will be nice to ride a different area (not sure if I’m allowed to post about that trip on this thread LOL). Enjoy the pics

That's awesome glad you finally got your boy out. I think its just as much fun to see your kids out there having fun and learning how to ride. Looks like nice trails.

What are your dates at the Root Cellar Indy? We are there in the Eagles Nest Feb 2nd-6th. No Friday or Saturday riding for me for many years now.

I have never seen so many sleds in Grand Marais as were there Friday afternoon. Took trails over from Tahquamenon Falls area and they were decent but took some backroads back to avoid traffic and the trails were getting beat.

Grooming ceased Thursday evening in Munising area. They came back out Sunday evening 400 mi. Of chitt. H58 was mostly smooth. Mostly everything else was brutal.
Would have been a nice weekend for Forest Roads. Stayed at Village inn in Chatham nice folks clean rooms.
