momoney2123;424442I dont know the numbers but doo has SOLD a ton of 900 aces. I would bet they sell as many if not more than 600 etec in recent year. It really has become a popular choice[/QUOTE said:
Almost impossible to find a current model (forget leftover) Doo 900 or 1200 in my region. Maybe a Doo 900 Gade with the HP tweaks for me? That would be enough HP for 95% of my riding needs. So conflused! LOL!

GD - if you confirm the 900 ACE reflash to gain 10 HP or so, and the cost, I'd be on that next year. Keep us informed of what you find out. The Cudney PB80 at $750 is too much to put into this sled IMO, plus the tweaking they want you to do with clutch springs and weights - I didn't want to bother with all of that.

Yamaha dealers laugh at Yamaha msrp no Apex sold for 15K and no SW will sell for 17K! IDK what the best deal will be but it won't be msrp...lol. Snowmobilers will fight for every penney always have always will.

Those that that think the Apex & Vector is over may be correct but there is a huge gapping hole between 130hp Viper & 180-190hp SW that Apex & Vector now fills. I find it difficult to think Yamaha introduced the SS skid & then pulls the plug in 2 years. Whatever fills the 130-190hp gap say 160ish with different ergos than Viper more Vector & Apex like will be a homerun with many core faithful. May not be named Vector & Apex but huge sled gap in the meat of the hp market without them. Todays market buys more 800s than 600s so 150 -160 hp still the sweet spot for many of us. I can't see a product line where Yamaha walks away from that niche. 2018 will tell the story for the future of Yamaha sleds & their relationship with AC. Lots of possibilities so I'm excited to see how things will play out!

I guess I don't understand why a Midwest trail rider would want a big bore two stroke, for marginally less than the turbo Yamaha/cat??(price wise)...especially with the Yamaha warranty.

As far as them making a 900....how have they sold (ski-doo's 900)...I would bet etec 600's out sell them 2 to 1.....Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see that much of a market for them....I do think Yamaha should have taken an "updated" phazer motor, and put that in the cat chassis...give it anti engine breaking, and EPS....and maybe just a bit more HP...and you'd have a mileage champ with 500 liquid performance..just a nice trail sled....I still think the Yamaha story will unfold next year...all this speculation is just that...speculation....it's their 50 anniversary next year (2018)...if all they have are BNG yamacats...then you'll have your answer...but I have a feeling new 100 percent yami's are coming next season...I wouldn't give up on them yet.

If you want to get off trail at all, that's where most of the 4 strokes are an issue. It just takes more effort to maneuver the weight around in powder. I agree though - I'd love it if YamiCat built the sled you described. Procross chassis with lightweight 4 stroke Yamaha engine. I think there would be a huge market for a lightweight 4 stroke even with 500/600 class power. The Doo 900 is the only one in that space. The Phazer isn't even in the conversation.

Just the PB80 clutch is around 500. For 750 it comes with a complete secondary clutch kit as well

if you watch dootalk over the summer these things sell for much cheaper used all the time.

Selling the Edrive clutch would yield a good chunk of that back as well

I'd doo the PB80 without hesitation and consider it a cost of doing business. Same with the reflash. I drove the first year 900 (15?) in the Gade setup and really liked it. Ergo's felt really good compared to the 15 1200 GSX I drove. Just didn't like the narrow h-bars on the GSX. Maybe the 900 Gade is the same and I just didn't notice it?

But....don't want to totally derail this thread away from the SW. I'll keep you posted for sure XXX007.

It may be too much to spend in your opinion but the cudney clutch kit does work. If you want more power just get the 600etec or 800etec.

The 900 is a cruising sled and is the first 4stroke sled where you don't feel the weight in the front of the sled. It is not going to win any races but it is a nice sled for the person who doesn't care about top speed and racing around.

If anyone is looking for a 2015 900 renegade with a cudney clutch kit and 900miles on it. PM me. I may sell mine as my son wants to go up to a 600etec.

Banks I get your point, but way ahead of you, I weigh cost/benefit on everything. The issue is making the ACE9 perform close to Etech6 for less money. The next progression (to me) is the Etech6, (what I want) but don't want to spend the $$'s. (2nd sled -wife) Thought I could get same performance for less with ACE9, but the Cudney adds too much cost, or I would have already bought it. Complicated thought process, I admit.

GD - your last post (2 down) nails the issue exactly. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

That's good info. This would be a great set up for the riding we've done lately in Northern Ontario. Light enough for when you are playing off trail and good on gas for the high mile days. The only place it may come up short is on long straightaways but the trails aren't grades up there so have to be careful how fast you go. Plus the speed limit is 50 kilometers/hour :) This is the one Doo I've really considered. One of my relatives picked one up this year but I haven't had the chance to ride it yet.

I think the hole Yami is missing is where they used to be dominant when they made 600's and 700's - reliable, high torque, 115-135 hp, relatively light weight (compared to now, not necessarily the other's twins).

What I want is the ACE900 to perform like an etech but have the longevity (potential) of the 1200 Doo or any Yamaha 4S.

It really is all about what you like to do. I am a midwest trail rider and still prefer the light weight 2 strokes over 4 stroke. our group owns them all, 800's 600's 900's 1200's. I still like the 800 class 2 stroke the best personally, but others like the 1200 or 900 I dont know the numbers but doo has SOLD a ton of 900 aces. I would bet they sell as many if not more than 600 etec in recent year. It really has become a popular choice I paid 12,550 for a new 850 Gade X. Looking at the sidewinder model 137 with the good shocks it retails for 3-4000 more than the 850 X
ummmmm, turbos do cost more, always!

old abe, I understand your frustration and we do need a sled in that category you're speaking of!!! I couldn't agree more, however, Yamaha will continue to build their own sleds and I know the waiting gets to be unacceptable. Trust me, no one feels it more than us dealers!!!! In that category you would need to go with a different brand for now unfortunately. I wish I had better news for you. I could get you on a 2016 Viper for 8995 right now, that's tough to beat but I also know if may not be what you want. Snobuilder, last time I checked, the old SX chassis pretty much railed and was snowmobile of the year and I personally raced that chassis, it rocked! That's not a dig of course, just saying it was a damn good chassis and in my opinion head over heels what Cat had at that time and much lighter. Wish we were that light again:)!!!!

Thanks so much for the reply Kip. I was too slow on the unbelievable "no snow" deals due to the thinking Yami was to bring something all "new". Your Viper is not a bad deal! It's just not what I'm looking for. I will do some more waiting now as the 2016 "900" renegade's seem to be gone. I don't usually buy used, but if I could find a GOOD one at the right price, I could do so. I don't know why I was so stupid not to grab onto those "no snow" deals. They were unreal. I don't think we will see those kind of offers again any time soon. As a dealer, I know you know what I mean. A older friend of mine, who I always considered very wise, said when ever offered something for nothing, take it!!!!!!!!!! Oh well. Thanks again Kip. You, and your group are a class act in my book always!!!! In hopes the new SW a real winner for you!

All types, from sno cross, to hill climbing, to drag racing. Not saying others didn't have success but Yamaha was very good during those chassis years and had some good dominance even. They also did very good on the cross country circuit with that chassis.

You're welcome old abe and thank you as well:)
