I could deal with any truck and be happy. I happen to have 3 Chevy's right now and all 3 have drivers door hinge or bushing problem. On this particular issue, Chevy needs to follow Fords design because Ford does not have across the board problem with doors and hinges. Chevy has a poor design on this because they fail and fail quickly. I know, I know people are gonna say I have had Chevy's for years and never seen a door hinge problem.

I have had driver door hinge problems on 3 of our 3/4 ton chevy work trucks. The 98's have welded on hinges and the part that holds the spring breaks off, so the door has no slow down on closing. Also they all have door handle issues. I have replaced outside lift handles 2 times on one of the trucks. They are old and tired with between 220,000 and 240,000 miles on them. The doors do have "millions" of opening and closings on them. So I can't expect them not to wear. The tail gate latches are plastic like or white metal cast junk with steel wire type rods that do stretch out and fail to work every few yrs. But again these trucks haul tile (2200# to 2800# a load) daily since new with different drivers and the axles, springs, motors, transmissions and transfer cases hang in there, even shocks do not fail. I found that greasing the hinges at each oil change works wonders.

Purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Impala LTZ and took it to the local dealer because during a flat tire fix, the tire repair shop found a bulg along the inside of the rim; looked like a big zit!!!

Long story short, GM will not replace the rim because it has "too many miles" on the car and even though the dealership admits it is a factory defect; too bad owner.

The reason, get this, because I did not have the dealership rotate the tire, they will not cover it under warrant. According to them, if a GM certified mechanic rotated the tire, they would have caught it. My foot...

I'll be ordering a new half ton pickup this spring. The first time ever, I'm buying something other than GM. It looks like it will be a Dodge Larrime. As soon as I get the window tag, I'm giving a copy of it to the dealership and tell them the "best" truck won!

Dodge is my last hope for an American Built vehicle. Hope it will pull through...

Good luck! my Dodge "ride around" truck is not even remotely close to my old chevy work trucks for tough. But the Dodge does look "pretty" with the 20" rims and sport pkg., seats are totally uncomfortable but I get all the gadgets to keep me occupied. I guess to sum it up, A peach built for you today could be a lemon to someone else tomorrow. You never know. My father has always had Dodge, My brother swears by ford trucks and I like Chevrolet.
