I could deal with any truck and be happy. I happen to have 3 Chevy's right now and all 3 have drivers door hinge or bushing problem. On this particular issue, Chevy needs to follow Fords design because Ford does not have across the board problem with doors and hinges. Chevy has a poor design on this because they fail and fail quickly. I know, I know people are gonna say I have had Chevy's for years and never seen a door hinge problem.
I have had driver door hinge problems on 3 of our 3/4 ton chevy work trucks. The 98's have welded on hinges and the part that holds the spring breaks off, so the door has no slow down on closing. Also they all have door handle issues. I have replaced outside lift handles 2 times on one of the trucks. They are old and tired with between 220,000 and 240,000 miles on them. The doors do have "millions" of opening and closings on them. So I can't expect them not to wear. The tail gate latches are plastic like or white metal cast junk with steel wire type rods that do stretch out and fail to work every few yrs. But again these trucks haul tile (2200# to 2800# a load) daily since new with different drivers and the axles, springs, motors, transmissions and transfer cases hang in there, even shocks do not fail. I found that greasing the hinges at each oil change works wonders.
