I could deal with any truck and be happy. I happen to have 3 Chevy's right now and all 3 have drivers door hinge or bushing problem. On this particular issue, Chevy needs to follow Fords design because Ford does not have across the board problem with doors and hinges. Chevy has a poor design on this because they fail and fail quickly. I know, I know people are gonna say I have had Chevy's for years and never seen a door hinge problem.

I'm assuming this is a truck/SUV poll.

Two years ago I would say Jeep and then Chevy. Mainly because I had a Wrangler and absolutely loved it, even if it had a lot of problems. Now my wife drives a Commander that seems to be well-built. I also loved Chevy trucks, Tahoes, etc. My S-10 Blazer made it almost to 180,000 miles with very few headaches.

I voted Ford this time as they are the last one standing.

We also own a made in TN Altima that seems to be a great car so far (although I wish I would have bought used instead of falling for the cash for clunkers nonsense...don't like the payment!).

Other, two Volvo's one a sedan the other XC 70 AWD glorified station wagon(doesn't sit so high easier to get Newfy in the back, plus she can look out the window). Awesome gas milage (compared to my Jeeps) and great seats. Used to have Jeeps, 4 at one time.

In ALL the 2000-2004 and above Chevy 1 tons van's I own or have owned the side door hinges have failed. It costs a couple hundred bucks for the updated hinges and to have them welded on (now they come with Zerk fitting) So I feel your pain.

The bottom line is they all can have problems. We currently have 2 Dodge diesels, 1 Ford diesel and 1 Chevy diesel all are 1 tons. These trucks are all farm trucks that get maintained and also get the heck pulled out of them with cattle trailers and flatbeds etc.

The Chevy is a 2010 and don't have many miles on it yet.The 2 Dodges are 2009 have had issues with injectors and a tranny. The Ford is a 2004 and we had multiple problems with it and have had to replace front end parts (tie rods etc.) twice already. All in all they have had and will have problems as we use our trucks .

We had all Chevy for years and have since tried them all and the new one is Chevy again.
I will say that the cummins will out pull the others in my opinion any day of the week.

Just my 2 cents.

Poll choices...

Maybe with the present state of things the poll choices should read:

  1. Ford
  2. Government Motors
  3. Fiat
  4. Other
:)

I prefer chevy trucks but I hate the corporate part of Chevy and really is going to make me think when I go buy my truck (hopefully this year)

Lenny the door is not for hanging on! The newer Chevs. (1998 to current) door hinges are welded on so you can't fix without burning off the paint. It is the plastic/white metal door handles that give me fits.
