Indy those new Poos speak Spanish you know moved the factory to Mexico. Poo made in USA does not wash any longer. Got to think Global then buy the best! Doo made in Canada. Only sled OEM that may be pulling back to USA is AC but AC has not stated new engine tech country of origin yet but we will know soon. Over seas or over the border what difference does it make now days? I would not make a buying decision based on made in USA only or you won't be able to buy a sled. ;)

Poo sleds aren't made in mexico only wheelers

Indy, what manufacture of newer machine has an oil change procedure that requires you to remove the engine? The Yamaha's we just picked up: Step one remove side panel, remove 4 bolts to remove belly pan side panel so the oil can drain out rather than into the belly pan, remove drain plug drain oil.
Remove belly pan plate, remove oil filter.

i never associated removing the engine with changing oil. Just saying how it takes way too long to remove the engine and it's not longer a "do it yourself" type thing.

Just a matter of time & Poos CEO Scott Wine will move it all to Mexico. Stockholders want profit & Wine has shown his hand by moving to Mexico more to follow for sure. Once a company moves out of USA they don't come back & just keep moving more of their operation out & expanding out of USA. Then suddenly everything is gone surprise surprise! Not really just the way it is these days.

Indy why would you have to remove the engine? My buddy has a 03 RX-1 with 23,000 miles and it doesn't even burn oil? The chasis will fail long before the engine, quit thinking it is anything like a 2-stroke and you will be fine! All of us that are Yamaha loyals have had 2- strokes and we know what your thinking about burn downs and rebuilds, the days of bringing a spare sled on a trip are LONG gone!

Indy, you do remind me of my self when I was your age. That is a good thing, you have your own opinion, likes and dislikes. Knowing what you like and not letting other influence your actions is something you can be proud of. Just too funny, my screen name years ago when this site was started was Indy_500, or something very, close :)

Indy, come to the dark side, lol
It amazes me that people form such strong opinions against brand/sleds without ever riding them.

Wow,4 pages about Yamahas, I didn't think there were that many trail riders on John Dee anymore.:D

Indy, I for one am pretty proud of you for holding your ground. Not sure if the old farts in here read, before they post. You never stated that Yamaha needs engine pulled to change oil. Who said Poo sleds are built in Mexico? And so what if they are in the future? What part of a Artic Cat is built in the US?. I think the SRX triples had way more melt down issues than the 800 EFI's. So what. After all it is snowmobiling not Rocket science. Give the kid a break even if he knows more than you about his passion.

Not true. Speculation at its best. I recommend buying stock in Poo.just for the wine alone. (pun intended). Labor cost is driving out manufacturing. Everyone wants a 3000 sq.ft. house and 3 car garage full of toys. It's the american dream. In Mexico many are happy with semi clean drinking water. Sleds at $12,000.00 prices needs to be looked at. Blame will not fix the issue. Hope everyone is getting snow! pouring rain here. :(

Went yesterday and picked up the new sleds.
I am impressed with Yamaha's engineering and accessibility for standard maintenance items. I do not think we will regret this change.

Went over to Rochester, MN for dinner with family, and about 4:00 it started to snow like crazy. Since we had to drive down through the bluffs going home we left early. Like a mini blizzard all the way to the bottom of the bluffs around Winona, MN. Then nothing but a flurry the rest of the way home. Not sure they were supposed to get much, but boy with the wind and just a half inch, visibility was nasty. Not getting real excited yet, can't ride until at least Dec 13th "deer hunt". Our first ride will most likely be up in Twin Lakes, MI area unless we get enough to get a little ditch banging in, or out back in the hay field.

You are correct. Indy did not state that the engine had to be pulled to change the oil. My eyes are not what they used to be especially when I use my Droid to JD, and I did not read what he had posted close enough. He said 2 hour oil change, then 12 hr to pull the engine, I read it wrong. My apologies Indy!

still wouldnt' have to remove the engine as often as a 2s but if it does blow up, it's not an easy job

On my sixth Yammi four stroke. Probably close to 50000 miles. No engine problems. Don't know of any in this area that have 'blown up' to the point of having to remove the engine. Have heard of studs falling out and making the heat exchanger leak out all the coolant. This is not that big of a deal on a Yammi because the sled will shut itself down before it gets too hot. I don't even buy the extended warranty anymore. The motor will last forever and they don't cover wear items - what is the point? If you get the new SnoTech you will see a Yammi ad that shows someone that rode a Vector 15000 miles in 2 or 3 months. You will also see an ad for Yammi that shows an Apex that covered about 1900 miles in 24 hours. Both are world records. When Pol or AC or Doo sets a new record in either one of these catagories I might consider a look. Until then I'll take my chances on Yammi.
