I have owned 10 Yamaha's since 2002 and have never had any Chaincase or drive axle bearing issues. Not to say they don't happen, just that I haven't experienced them. I will admit, I'm a fanatic when it comes to regular maintenance.

Agree on the 2-3 years of crappy hand warmers. That wasn't good (wanted to say something else but wasn't sure if it would get edited). But...now it's finally fixed. 2010 Vector LTX GT has excellent warmers.

Have you seen the new hand warmers. Variable adjustment. Push the hand or thumb warmer button and the multifunction display turns the fuel gauge to hand or thumb warmer display while adjusting with I believe it is 7 settings each, then turns back to fuel gauge after a few seconds. I put them on just to load the sleds when we picked them up... Hot on the hands, too hot on hi with no gloves. I think this made a huge improvement over what it sounds like they were a few years ago but I have no experience with the old ones to judge.

Yes, I bought a 2010 Vector LTX GT last year and the hand warmers worked extremely well. I usually ride with them at about half at the most. A friend of mine rode that machine the most last year and he was very pleased with them, especially since his hands get cold easily. In past years with the my 2006 Apex you didn't want to take off your gloves while taking a break since it would take so long for the grips to warm up again, if at all. I usually ride a 2007 Attak and have to keep the warmers almost all the way up. Every year since the Apex first came out I have had to change the windshield from the stock low to a mid height. This also helped to keep the wind from hitting the handlebars. I recently picked up my 2011 Apex XTX and have read most or all of the reviews which indicated the hand warmers were working like last years models. So it appears the problem is fixed and we can finally stop talking about it.

How is the Hi-fax wear on your LTX Vector? I am considering this sled and would like your input on the good and bad. If any bad, what are the fixes? Thanks.

Hi-fax wear on my nytro, it wears fast ( first 300 mi) at first and then they last. Don't panic and change them early like lot of people do.

I can't remember how many miles I put on it last year. Maybe 1,200 . The slides were changed at the end of the season. I don't think I put the wheel kit on the Vector. I tried looking back at receipts and don't see where I purchased it. I did purchase the kit from Pioneer Performance for my Apex and Attak and the slide wear issue was fixed.

I will say that out of all the Yamaha's I have owned, so far this is the most popular with the group I ride with...by far. Not as much top end as the Apex or Attak, but how often are you running at 90+. Everyone likes the weight of the sled and the low end torque, which you feel coming out of the corners. Very easy to get the skis off the ground with this sled! Changing carbides is a must and check out http://www.totallyamaha.com for excellent advice on getting the suspension set up properly. Not a lot of work, just some tweaking of the adjustable shocks, preloads, etc..

I put a mid height windshield on it too. Very important for good wind protection.

True dat, BUT, your Indy 500 was a FUJI motor. Japanese baby, Japanese. Now, knowing that, do you still stand by this comment you made? "what i hate is their made overseas, i couldn't stand the fact driving something designed by the japanese."

What say you Indy 500?:)

You need to ride a couple of miles stop and put snow on them to let them cool down and then do this again a couple of times. They do wear fast but then last a long time.

Thanks much for the info! This will most likely be my next sled. I want to test ride one of these someday this winter.

Pistons and many internals are still Fuji designed and built. Just pointing it out so you don't put the others down when they're not that much different from yours. It's not like Polaris all of a sudden quit buying the FUJIs and didn't continue to get some input in the design. Just saying.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I really like those Vectors...

I still don't want to spend 2 hours doing oil changes and 12 hours removing a motor and putting it back in. this is definatly turning into brand bashing lol

Indy, what manufacture of newer machine has an oil change procedure that requires you to remove the engine? The Yamaha's we just picked up: Step one remove side panel, remove 4 bolts to remove belly pan side panel so the oil can drain out rather than into the belly pan, remove drain plug drain oil.
Remove belly pan plate, remove oil filter.

I have to agree might be a Yamaha convert next year. I like that you can get an extended warranty reasonable. I think Skidoo now only you can get a 3 or 4 year warranty and Yamaha you can get a 5. Snowmobiles are getting so pricey you have to keep them 5 years. So it will be a Skidoo 4 stroke or a Vector.

Indy those new Poos speak Spanish you know moved the factory to Mexico. Poo made in USA does not wash any longer. Got to think Global then buy the best! Doo made in Canada. Only sled OEM that may be pulling back to USA is AC but AC has not stated new engine tech country of origin yet but we will know soon. Over seas or over the border what difference does it make now days? I would not make a buying decision based on made in USA only or you won't be able to buy a sled. ;)
