Haydays 2011

I seen this posted on another site thought I would share it here and see what everyone is thinking..I know what im thinking!!!!!!!

..........................................................................................................................

Copied from sw...................................

Some important changes regarding HayDays this year, especially regarding swap. I know it seems like a long ways off but it's really not! Especially with sales around the corner..

Most importantly to note, swap spaces will be sold on-line beginning on or right after June 1st. There will be NO cash sales on-site Friday night of swap spaces. There will be NO sale of additional space at the event. So you will have to plan accordingly and in advance when you make your reservation.
[If one HAS to purchase space at the site because they bought for a pickup and showed up with an RV, it will be as a penalty and it will be expensive, probably 3x what the normal rate is. We thereby highly encourage everyone to plan accordingly and make sure they get their spacing requirements figured out correctly.]

Extra wristbands will still be available Friday to swappers.

Swappers will need to have their stuff in on Friday. There will be no parking of trailers Saturday until the evening. Make sure to be there Friday! [Very important for you guys driving from way out west]

There most likely will be no sales to individual cars, thereby preventing those with nothing to sell from 'parking' inside the facility. This was implemented to increase the space available to true swappers.

Swap walking aisles have been narrowed a bit so it's easier to see both sides at once when walking up and down. This will also give us an extra row or two of space to allow more swappers in.

We have added over 100 acres of free parking space so there should be no shortage of parking at the event this year. Parking will be both on the west side of the event and the south and east side, thereby alleviating traffic flow around the event as well. New traffic management has also been approved for this year.

Sounds Like some very good ideas will be implaminted for this year. Drove past the site Friday and you can tell they have been busy already. Hopefully the parking and traffic improvements make a difference.

The guy that posted that on snowest is being asked a lot of questions, sounds like they did some improvements in case of rain, they now have a different traffic management plan also.

I am hoping to get back up there this year!

hahaha she pizzed me off too!!!!and I went up there few weeks before and she was standing around I got a chance to talk with Her, she told us how the entire event was planed on a bar napkin......talked to her about parking and did not think there was no way they had enuff parking!!!!I don't think one more lot will help at all they need to let the local sell spot in there yard!!!This wont happen cuz "fat pig" went to county to get laws implemented against selling swap or parking spots!!!this is just a grab at control of ALL the money and thats where all the problems started!!!!!!!LET THE LOCALS SELL PARKING IN THEIR YARDS AND THE TRAFFIC CAN GET IN AND PARK that should relive the stress on two ways in........not very hard to figure out but they cant control all the money so it wont happen..

you meen carry on about how messed up it was that pit crew guys could not get in to wrench on multi world record holders sleds because people did not care enough to plan ahead? or when they did plan it was to put up road blocks with city help so farmers could not let people park.btw nice mud pit track could the times be because the tech of the sleds and turbos poshing huge boost etc. no just the high quality mud track. guess the mud helped lub the highfax for better runs yeah thats the reason for better speeds

I'm agreeing with Ezra on this one.... 12 hr round trip= LOTS OF GAS, $100 in a hotel, $100 in food, to wait 4 hours in a truck........?

After last year I did the survey thing on their sight. It asked if i wanted to get emails on updates for this year....have not got one email....is gonna be hard to make the trip this year if i do not see anything as far as what has been done to improve this event. The locals should just let people park in their yards for donations, that way they are not asking for the money to park on their property.

Was Rome built in one year?

NOPE!

Was there problems last year, YES
Do they know there was problems, YES
Are they going to try and fix the problems, YES

I compare HayDays to riding in the U.P. on a Saturday afternoon when rest of the Midwest does not have snow. Some would not miss it for the world and others will piss and mone and bad mouth it.

Every one that is complaining has to remember that most of HayDays is put on by volunteers (ya some might be getting paid a little, I don't know any thing about that). Years past the Barrons have given HUGH chunks of money to other clubs for bridges, grooming equipment and what not. They have done way more good then bad!

Give them another year and see what comes of it.

O ya who has control of the rain, nothing could have been done about the inch plus of rain the fell Friday night/Saturday morning!

No I am not a Barron and yes I was there both Saturday and Sunday last year.

When I spend $500 for a "vacation" I don't expect to sit in a truck for 4 hours AND have to walk 3 miles to get there... Yes, they are most likely volunteers, and I'm thankful for what they do, but they should've had some sort of back-up plan in case it rained.
