All the bitchin' about price at HayDays? A weekend event?

You want to talk 'spensive?
This event is the sled jockey's equivalent of the (click →) EAA Airventure Oshkosh, a week long (yes 7 days) event with over 790 commercial exhibitors, 10,000+ fly-in aircraft, 36,000 campers and 200,000 - 300,000 attendees (EAA claims 500,000 - 750,000 person-days) "… where they rekindle friendships and celebrate the past, present, and future in the world of flight, (er… snowmobilin'?)". Some would say "Priceless!"

'Course if your talking bout flying your own plane in, and staying all week, I imagine that does get pretty 'spensive! Lol

I have been hauling potatoes down I 29 the last two days and have seen quite a few trailers loaded with sleds heading south to the swap. It would be great to go but work gets in the way sometimes.

LOL....And my wifes reply would be then you can spend what's left on a divorce attorney. I guess I'll get my swap fix in Belvidere in October. Have fun at Haydays!!!!
That's just sad. If that was the life I was living the only life I have to live I would be living single . got to give in on some stuff in life but man.

Ok...so the one in the classified is still for sale then.
yeah only posted on JD for now . prob wont post any place other until I can get it out of storage and get some picks . cant believe I could only find 1 and that was a background pick from 2 yrs ago. though about attempting to get it this week to yank up to hay days with a 4 sale sign but that really sounded like a lot of work and time I just did not have

just got home did not see a ton of big ticket toys heading out. even cheep sleds still sitting at the end of the day.rental lots still full as sun was starting to set . lots of gear racks still full .very nice day for walking . think last winter and the unsettling economy was peeking in on hay days . great day though

Well, my first Hay Days experience was yesterday. Went with Sweeperguy and a couple of other Joe's. Hit this much >< of the swap. Quite the event I must say. I honestly wasn't really into it with the recent events of the last month (vehicle/garage fire) plus it was a beautiful summer day.....in mid-September.

The first 10 minutes of the show was one that I'll never forget.....also I'll NEVER recommend Split Rail skis. The first row we walked down has these skis.....I've never seen them before in person. Not being happy with the Tuner skis on my 14 Vector LTX I've been kinda window shopping different skis.

The guy looked at me looking at the skis. He started to explain the "whys" about the skis and I explained that I'm not one to spend $500 experimenting on stuff that I maybe won't like. HE told me about their early season "return it and get our money back if you don't like them? deal. Hmmmm?.....I said to myself.

He asked what kind of sled I had (14 Vector LTX) .....he said something along the lines of "that sled should be in your living room, not on the trail". I kinda looked at him wondering if he was kidding....but he wasn't.

He said again that my sled should only be sat on if it was in the living room of my house. I looked at one of the two Joe's and said "this whole Hay Days thing is going south quick." I proceeded to tell him that he probably was one of the stupid MOFO's who roosts the sheet out of trails and i'm on of the guys (or gals) that goes out and fixes what he and other idiots like him tear up.

What he said or did after that I don't know (and don't care) as I walked away.....one pissed off guy. Only Sweeperguy and the two Joe's can say what he said.

All I know is that the internet is a powerful sales and marketing tool. One should NEVER talk down a competitors product, MUCH LESS the sled that a prospective buyer owns.

EDIT TO ADD: I wouldn't care if Split Rail Skis made my sled or any sled the best sled ever.....they or any company associated with them will never get any of my money!

(is this an accurate portrayal of how it went down Sweeperguy?)

Pretty much exactly how it went. Not only did he blow a possible sale, and any word of mouth positive advertising. But no way the Joe's or I would buy them either. After putting your sled down like that, even if we don't ride Yamahahaha. May have been other possible customers in earshot that didn't like what they heard either. I've been on lookout for different ski's or dual carbides for the floydmobile, sure won't be Split Rail Skis!
Joe or Joe, Might have heard what he said after you scolded him I was already moving along, thought the price point was too high. Hoping to make a deal on these Rush skis I found on craigslist last night, then get some double skags, see if it cures what issues I'm having.

So I take it most of you guys don't park your Yamahas in the living room in the off season like me?

I been working in the big box home supply biz for a couple years where cust serv. is #1, 2 and 3... in that order.

That idea works....our co. stock has quadrupled in 3 years time.
Too bad one guy has helped ruin sales for a co. that might be struggling to begin with.

well it's another 50/50 discussion, a start to another snowmobile year, we all have different ideas and opinions in all topics, we make our own decisions. We've gone to Hay Days for many years with it being our Anniversary during that time we choose between it or NHRA. We want to do something , go some where and yes end up spending $'s.1 weekend a year we deserve it, the locals deserve it and the economy gets a boost It's fun to see new product, a disappointment when you go to find product you are used to seeing and they're not there, hope it's not due to vender pricing, a few of the layout would be nicer, me I would love to see all lodging , magazine, and video productions all together, clothing, after market products etc. all near one in other, but again this is a big production to put on and achieve year after year, and yes it gets better and better. I love the new ground, lots of event areas, seating, shaded areas, free to expensive parking, you make the call. I agree $20 for Sat. or 2 days for $30 would have been less of a shocker, but as borderstaff put it, it's all there in 1 place for those of us who look forward to the opener of our beloved addiction. As Scott observed, so did I, a lot of work, workers, weather paid or volunteered deserve our thanks not our negative opinions, they are out there working for us. Kinda like all our groomers out there, you can always talk the talk if you want to walk the walk feel free to join in. The 1st. yr. of their move was a disaster, but we made it and now look how far they have come, so this year may have been a bad decision call, but it to shall pass. Please remember the Sno Baron's do for other clubs and organizations as well for Mn., Not to mention the great raffle prizes they do, I'd like to mention a big thanks to the club for doing a kids only raffle and that our grandson Eli won a 120 !!!! THANK YOU!!! May all who have made this event possible, I thank you .

Yamaha guys should try snowtrackers with Yamaha stock skis. I had Kip install mine in July no time like summer to improve sled handling.lol.. My bud has them on Apex XTX just like mine & no comparison to triple points or Stud Boy Duce on my XTX & buds SE. Just set up your sled to snowtracker specs and you will have no darting and carve like on rails. Take my word for it owned Yamahas since 07. :)
