wake up,,,
i ride an etec and so do ten of my riding partners and none of us has had a blow up except one guy who had 8000 plus miles on it and he lost the top end to it.
I had 7500 miles on the last one and only put gas and oil in it.
I have never blown a belt nor has any of my buds . so I guess that cat clutching talk is all just roomer ha. the whole me and my circle holds no water with any one. the e tec is deff a lot better than the junk it replaced but lets not get ahead of our self's here . the more concerning issue is not bending up when hitting a frozen pop can.

do you guys buy at lowest dollar amount and switch dealer time to time or stick with same dealer and pay fair amount. Does you guys use same dealer for service?

Always from same dealer myself. Not worth it to me to save a few hundred dollars in return for what my dealer has provided. If i ever need anything he has stopped what he was doing to help. to me that is worth way more than the cheapest price.

IDK.......I ride with big group of guys, five guys with Doo's 1.600 etec, 3. 800's and 1. 1000 SDI ......over the last 2 seasons the 600, 1000, and one of the 800's have blown up ( the 800 twice even with new dealer motor) ...... the Etec's where the oil/crank problem (sleds 2014/2015's)...... the 1000 had a injector go bad and cold seized I guess......... I personally hooked onto these sleds and pulled them home....only guys in our group of riders needing a pull the last 2 years........

No one. and it would never be a little problem that can be handled later date or on my own. This call is not made very often only twice i can think of. i dont ask for him to stop what he is doing, he just does. when you buy as many sleds as i have i guess its VIC treatment :). I do appreciate not being treated like a first time buyer or newbie

I don't know what you're referring to as the "junk it replaced" The SDI was a totally solid motor and so are the carbed ones. I got 11,500 on my 99 600 beater banana carbed and still pulls over after the 2nd - 4th pull. Take care of your stuff and you'd be surprised how long it will last.

Why anyone would want to bust their nuts moving sleds is beyond me too Lenny. I learned to move sleds just like you. BUT ....apparently some members can't handle the dead weight & can't deal with it as they posted. Seems silly to me too but to each his own. lol... Dollies & carts worth every penny.:)

Just checked & noticed multiple post deletions.... oh well lol.

If that sidewinder would feel light like a 800 etec and had the R-Motion suspension. It would be a Homerun.

I can guarantee you that a 700 lb sled is not going to handle and act like the 480-500lbs sled. 4 strokes are heavier than 2 strokes.

If you like lighter handling sleds get the 600 and 800's. If you ride during the week and don't care about 2' moguls and beat up trails then get a 4 stroke and you are lucky.

I have owned the 2008 apex, 2011 Apex XTX and the 2013 Vector LTX. Very nice sleds when the trail is groomed or when you are riding across the lake but don't ever kid yourself that they handle like a 600 or 800 2 stroke of any brand.

Ditto. 600 SDI is widely regarded as one of Doo's finest. 10,062 on mine when I sold it. Internals untouched and still going strong when it left the stable.

We too have 2 600 SDI's untouched. We are nothing but pleased with their performance, and mpg. Know of 2 these 600 SDI engines going close to 20K, and still untouched. I will say I think it has a lot to do with how they have been cared for. That goes with just about any vehicle.

Thanks for the video Indy! I couldn't care less about the drag race.:D I grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee, just a few miles from Gunstock. You just brought back a flood of great memories for me! Lol

Looks like the lower geared longer track taller lug 800etec XRS ran better than the 850 shorty up a hill with jumps as well. 1500 miles on the 850, wonder if still running stock belt and what rpms it was pulling. They said 2000 feet, that doesnt look like almost a half mile to me.

u really think a demo sled is not running oem parts and tuned for elevation the best the guy driving them around the country can do.
historically more times than not doos peeter out on top end but have decent launch and great mid
