A 6205 is a 6205, no matter where it's used. Of course, there are different seal configurations but the bearing is the same. I think there's a 6205 in the chain case of my 'Doo, too.

The chaincase bearings look to be 6205 so does that mean they are just your standard bogey wheel bearing??? I need all new bearings for my 700, that chaincase side driveshaft bearing slid around all season for 2000 miles. The chaincase side driveshaft bearing on my 500 doesn't roll too smoothly, maybe just maybe i'll get 4 all new bearings? Will that make you guys happy? :p

Since you've come into some extra money all of a sudden, you might as well replace all the bogey wheel bearings, lol

On second thought, perhaps you should post some pics of the bearings being removed as some guys here might think you're not sincere in your "intentions"

If you read my prior posts?? you'll find that I referenced the 6205 with plastic adapters being used in the chain-case (BOTH upper and lower) and Bogey wheels. So, you can save your "good used" (as you call them after they've passed your "spin " test) bearings for spare bogey wheel bearings should you so desire....................................................................

It's a standard 1" I.D. X 1/2" wide bearing, approx $8.00 each at your local Auto Parts Store

POLARIS must buy them by the box car load.

The speedo side bearing and bearing behind the secondary are both the same, radiused outer race with a "in-hole" in the outer race to allow the grease to enter. REMEMBER to align the "pin-hole" with the grease zerk upon installation. I have NOT been able t find this bearing at the local Auto Parts Store, POLARIS and "ALL BALLS" bearing kit are the only ones as far as I know.

Can you get ntn at auto parts stores? I don't want chinese bearings... Polaris bearings are chinese now (have been for a year or 2) and not worth the dealer price.

I found motion industries has bearings but it's still $15 a piece for ntn, doesn't that sound high?

I found a 10 pack of ntn 6205 bearings for $34 from royal distributing. Hopefully the shipping brings it to around $40. Sounds like a good price to me for NTN? I'll probably order it when I get home.

Indy

My 14 year old son has 2002 XCSP 500 and the speedo went out this weekend and we all know what that means on a polaris...
As many have stated replace all bearings and seals. My son is doing the work and there is no way I would let him put it back together without putting new bearings in all locations.

FYI- 4000 miles and the bearing still feels OK but it obviously had enough play to break the speedo key.

RB TECH for $6.95 Ea. (Probably Tiawan or China)

NTN or KOYO for $11.95 (Japan)

I looked at every OEM Polaris bearing we have in stock and all are still made in Japan with one exception, one of them (Polaris part # 3514524) is actually made in the USA. WHAT?

I didn't think we manufactured any bearings in the US anymore but it was kinda nice to see.

Would you happen to know where I can buy NTN bearings?

We get them under a private label but they are always KOYO or NTN bearings.

You never know which untill you open the package but we figure either way is acceptable to us and a good quality bearing.

500 skid turned out pretty dang good. Using primer really makes it look a heck of a lot better. In the process of repainting my 700 skid right now. Got all the torque arms primed. Shoulda never painted those rails on my 700 though :( I was able to scrape 90% of the paint off the rails with a razor blade. If i keep working at it it'll be completly off.

got 700 skid together, chaincase bearings in the 500, and 500 clutch rebuilt. Now I just need to get the darn bearings off the 500 and 700 driveshafts! heat and lots of pounding did nothing...

Nice Parts Indy! Bought alot of stuff from EPI, also they will spend some time with you on the phone if needed for advice. A press is what you need, they will slide right off with a 6 ton jack pushing on them.

For future reference, the "ALL BALLS" kit includes 2 bearings, 1 seal all for $25 (enough to do one axle)

If you can't find them locally, Don at Hayward Powersports (XCR 1250 on www.hardcoresledder.com) has 'em and can U.P.S. them out to you
