Congrats on the truck! I second the fuel pump and 4 wheel alignment as previously mentioned. I was also wondering if LT rated tires would help on the outer tire wire? On my '97 even with the alignment I was still chewing through tires (R rated Goodyear RTS). Depends on hard you drive (ie; take corners and turns etc). Just a thought?

I look forward to seeing your clean up efforts with this project and have enjoyed seeing your other accomplished projects. You have a bright future and I wish there were more teenagers like you with a bit of ambition and desire to do something meaningful with themselves and time.

Good luck again on the project!

If your putting tires on it. Id go with the firestone destinations AT's. I'm on my second set. They wear really good. At least mine did. Main thing is stay on top of the air pressure and rotation.

It also has purple window tint.
First off that is one sweet truck, several friends have those and they are pretty cool. But the tint has to go. You can't have that cheap purple tint. I don't remember how to remove it, but I know it is a b*tch. Take it off and put real stuff on, so it's actually black. I would also add some flowmasters 40 series to your truck. Even though loud is the true sign of a redneck, its also a call to the cops when your out late. And trust me, I have met with them on the side of the road enough times to know what they are going to pull you over for. I've been picked up for loud exhaust, windows, clear tailights, stuff hanging from the rearview, truck too low, etc. Being a 16 year old male will make you a prime target, you don't want to give the cops a bullseye to shoot at. With two flowmasters, one for each pipe, I believe it is the best sound that engine can make.

I forgot to add that this was a S10 with a four cylinder, two wheel drive. But it did help with my lady friend:)

Nice truck Indy. I was told by a mechanic that having less than 1/4 tank of gas is harder on the fuel pump because it builds up heat in the 3/4 sticking out of the gas which is what fries them. Enjoy the truck, I just got another one after 12 years without one.

Thanks for all the compliments everybody!

Thanks for the advice! I will do anything I can to keep the fuel pump running good. It's a little noisy but I had a buddys dad check the truck over and he says it sounded pretty normal. We also jacked it up an put a pipe under the tire and pried on it and the ball joints seemed good. I have a feeling the previous owner just took corners too quick, because I already know he does. I put the front tires on back and back on front, so if those start to wear on the front, I know that I need to get it aligned. It drives a lot smoother with the better tires up front.

I didn't show you a pic of the front damage, but the front grill was smashed on the driver side headlight, and the headlight was snapped off of the mount. I went to the junkyard yesterday and found 1 gmc truck that HAD a grille still on it, and it happened to be red!!! But, it doesn't have the chrome trim around the middle. The headlights looked really foggy on this truck, EXCEPT for the driver side headlight was brand new! The one that I needed! I was pretty happy, got home and had a heck of a time installing the grille because the front bumper was pushed up just a little bit. It's on there, not perfect, but its on and looks ok. I also primered up the hood (it was faded) and added a little sticker on the back :D

Nice starter truck Indy. If you can tone down exhaust that would be a good thing for ya. Teenager, loud exhaust, red truck makes you a target with the cops. Not fair but the way it is. When I was your age I had a red chevy & thing was a cop magnet so painted it baby blue & they cut me some slack. I'll never own a red car/truck again! lol

i got a hvlp gun for $12 from harbor freight and painted it flat black for now. It looks pretty good actually, but will get some matched red paint sometime soon. I just wanted a cheap cover-up for now. I changed the oil tonight also, it was pretty black. Dunno last time it was changed but guy told me it would need to be changed soon.

Congrats Indy! Looks pretty good for 1600! Make sure you don't get pure pressured into the " I bet you can't make it through that mud hole" crap! LOL, that is when the big repair bills come in to play. LOL.

I actually just got back from minor mudding, only thing that got dirty was the pipes and mudflaps. LOL

Here is a pic of the hood. It's ok, slighty spotty but better than any rattle can job. It looks ok in person, a friend of mine wants a black hood but is going to go brand new and I might get his red one for $25. His is slightly kinked on the side due to getting shut with a hammer in it. But you can barely tell, and its matching red with no fade spots or rust.

Mom lets you park in the garage huh? Now you have something to expand your landscaping business. Or sled repair.
