Iron county opens

When you think about how many places closed for good because of no snow last winter, and now this winter is half over already, I for one am glad they are opening it. I know several restaurant and bar owners that are really scared for their business. Conditions will be bad, no doubt but at least if you choose to ride northern Wi you can. Some areas are really good, and some are terrible. Who ever shows up to ride these areas will be a a warm welcome to the businesses in that area.

Didn't here that one. Good grief, there's no snow here! Base is good, but what's on the trails is fluff. That won't last long and there is no significant snow forecasted.
Yeah apparently at the county alliance meeting last night the county told the clubs not to post anything about it until today but obviously word got out. (I think they didn’t want people to get confused with iron county opening today). Kind of wish they’d hold off until Saturday after temps drop. Here’s the press release

As much as I want to ride, I don't want to destroy my slides and carbides just to say I did. I just keep hoping for a snowy pattern to start aiming at Northern Wisconsin and give us a few big dumping's. Glass is still half full. 2 weeks left in January, all of February and hopefully deep into March.

Going to be lots of people this weekend wearing down $300 skis, $100 carbides, and $50 hyfax all to save on that $52 trail pass

this weather really sucks. I absolutely love when there is snow everywhere and it's cold. Everyone is spread out and the cold keeps trails great after a groom. I realize some are chasing it during the week and good for them. I will end up doing the same but I have a feeling it will be like riding in downtown chicago in rush hour. mini vent over

It sure has been. Grand marais at noon on a Saturday the last few weekends is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. Sleds on sleds on sleds.

Not this weekend it's a holiday weekend and also the free weekend no trail pass needed. I can't say I am on board with this especially the money it takes to maintain these trails. If a $52 trail permit is the reason you don't ride in Michigan, then you are in the wrong sport.

You are absolutely correct, I get the theory but it just doesn’t work in this sport in my opinion either. Free fishing weekend sure it’s a fishing pole not a new boat to do it. But if ever it has to happen I guess with as poor as last season this could at least help the economy, probably won’t get too many people to buy because they want to come back but maybe!
