I follow the Mercer Sno Goers club and they did post that and the above picture. Plan your ride carefully.

Definitely the worst of the pictures shared by white thunder riders out of Hurley. Near the lake and snow is thin there allegedly.

Sure, but an hour to the east trails are night and day better, and for anyone coming from the south the drive time is the same. Many will go up there and wreck their carbides skis and hyfax just to save that $52 trail pass LOL

Someone trailering five hours, booking a place because the club said the trails are open and then encountering 2 inches on the trail ain't gonna be to happy.
Me persoanlly I would know it's gonna suck because I would of done my homework,, but alot won't.

At least they are being honest about it by posting photos. Mercer has their club fundraiser this weekend so at least if people want to ride, they can.

Early or late season conditions should be a red flag as experienced riders already know what they will see when they unload. Those that don’t know will soon learn. However once a county opens it’s up to the individual rider whether those conditions meet their standards. I’m not a fan of wearing out carbides and hyfax in marginal conditions on my sled but could care less on a rental. If they rent sleds in marginal conditions more power to them it’s their problem not the renters.

Looks safer and with less bumps then what the UP will be like this weekend! Besides.....that was only one trail on by the Lake.

I think with social media now days the clubs know that better to be honest because word will get out fast on how the trails are. If Vilas opens it will look very similar with some trails ok and some down to dirt in no time. Anyone who has ridden in Iron county should know there are some serious rocks that will flip you off your sled and it takes feet of snow to cover them. I wouldn't go very far west of Hurley personally some serious rocks going that way.
