Not entirely true, on news this morning people stuck on cruise shop from Wisconsin are going to be brought back to the state, not to initial designated quarantine areas. if gestation period is 2 weeks leave them either on the ship or to designated quarantine areas, the travel risk has been known for weeks now, if you choose to travel and you contract the virus why should everyone elses health be put at risk by bringing them back, and then you have the guy who boarded plane knowing he was infected and now everyone on that plane is at risk and he is permanently banned from flying, that's just too bad. you want to cut the chance and speed at which it travels, use your head, if you are sick... STAY HOME... wash your hands, practice good hygene, shutting down events may slow it but its peoples ignorance that will continue to advance it. IMO

Absolutely, X2!

I was kinda bummed too the WI cruise ship folks are coming back asap in cars driven by WI National Gaurd.
I would have expected they would stay in CA 2 weeks then travel.
CA probably said "movem-out", now they get to stop at a Kwik-Trip every 200 miles to pee/snack on their way back and put others at potential risk.

Just a thought, why does the government feel that they have to be the ones to shut down the airlines, limit public gatherings, note: MLB, NBA, NHL, March Madness, Disney Land. Is this the beginning of socialism? Whats next? Tanks rolling down the streets proclaiming martial law?

I think we should postpone the election in November as well.

People often ask me why I would consider moving to the Northwoods and retiring there. After this week and the beating everyone has taken that is where I am heading for some cabin time next week. Looking forward to getting away from the madness of this week where people took a major hit to their retirement portfolios and had their lives upended for what?

Perhaps we should all just turn off all the media. I think all the normal people have had it up to here with them. In a few weeks I think there might be some folks that are going to look a little silly.

The numbers just don't add up, World population of around 6 billion, 120,000 coronavirus cases as of today (Much smaller than a normal flu season) Don't quote me on those figures but I think they are close.

Never seen anything like this but I think this is the new norm so we best get used to it. My daughter is supposed to be getting married on a cruise that we have booked for 3/28 out of San Juan and we have not made a decision yet. Thinking by the time it sails (If the cruise line, Royal Carribean, doesn't cancel it) it might be at 50% capacity and that would actually be nice to have the ship to ourselves.

Looking forward to an early ice out this year!

Well I think your daughter's wedding plans just got messed up. Looks like all cruise lines are shutting down. I hope she still has a beautiful wedding.

Thanks and you are correct, The cruise was cancelled today so we are back to square one. Its ironic because the cruise line re-scheduled 2 previous dates in February of this year. The poor kid is taking it in stride and told me that plan B was to get married on the beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and plan C was to get married at the lake cabin in July up in Manitowish. Maybe I'll get my wish after all!

I am sure it will be a great wedding whenever and wherever it takes place. These are things you can't control so we'll have a family phone conversation tonight over a few glasses of wine and decide what she wants to do. She is my only child so you know Dad will work something out.

We are looking forward to the big day!

I just want to clarify.... the post quoted originally posted by gary_in_neenah that starts with not entirely true was not posted by him, I just want to clarify because his views may not be same as mine and I don't want anyone looking a certain way towards him because of it. I did a reply with quote and somehow it tagged his name to my post, Im sorry if this caused any problems and Im not sure how this happened and just want to clarify or make it right.
Yes indeedy. Clearly some folks posting in this thread need to learn how to edit quoted text.
(Or maybe I should say how not to edit quoted text.)

Bottom line:
When editing material inside a quote, do not muck with the QUOTE … and /QUOTE formatting commands appearing within the square brackets, or the square brackets themselves!

How difficult is this to figure out? Dis ain’t rockety [sic] science!

Fr nash.... I am sure you're well aware of the fact that it's 10 times easier To teach them to Spell the word skidoo than it is to teach them anything technologically advanced there's not a whole lot of brain cells going on in here.... just saying.... I'm still trying to get them to post a picture for God's sake

I hope you all took the time to watch all 1 hour and 14 minutes of the Trump press conference today. If not you missed history.

Here easy click. It starts great and ends like an historical moment in time with the free press getting real answers to their frivolous "gotcha" type questions

Tracker, first of all glad to see you back on this site! secondly I will admit I am not technologically advanced, nor do I want to be. I somehow made a mistake with the quote and to be quite honest not going to study to not do it again. I know this goes against your lifestyle and thought process but I simply don't care about all of this new technology, doesn't impress me a bit. And I hope I am long dead before I have to get in my driverless car, before I have to tell siri to open or lock the door, flush the toilet, have to look at a screen to see whats in my refrigerator. I admit I am not tech savy, I don't care to be, doesn't impress me, i'm old school and like the old school ways. I don't know how to post pictures and I don't care to know how. That's just me and I am in no hurry to get with the times and I hope I am looking at the bottom side of the sod before the day comes that I have to. I made a mistake, I addressed it, that's good enough for me. sorry to get off subject but not everyone is tech savy or cares to be.

Our boys basketball team was the #1 contender in the state championship and they just canceled that. Bummer. That dude that Joe Rogan talked to is a smart guy. Turns out my mom went to college with him at Luther in Decorah IA. He said 40% of the healthcare workers in this country have school aged children. If you cancel school then you take those people away from work. Or they go to grandma and grandpas who are the most vulnerable. Makes good sense to me. To bad the guvt didn't get the message....

The Calumet H.S. Hockey team was 2 wins away from a state title. Tournament canceled. Too bad they would just play the tournament with no fans.

News this morning.... schools closed... news story bowling alleys full of kids enjoying time off....yep closing schools was the answer... definitely was the answer...problem solved! Just had teacher conferences Thursday night and when done I asked the teacher and faculty if there was a plan in place if they would close school, got a dumfounded response, we just do things without no plan or potential repercussions. Why don't we ban handling cash, have people posted at every entryway sanitizing the door handles every time someone touches it, close all public restrooms, shut off all water fountains, we have overreacted enough, why not? I cant believe that people honestly think that 2 to 3 weeks from now the amount of people with it will be less, we are going to stop everything and then start it up back again when more people have the virus that initially had when closures took place. And anyone who still chooses to travel, especially to these hot spots, if you go you may have to stay plain and simple the choice you made. Yesterday a major grocer that is open 24 hours near by had to close just to restock shelves because of the hoarding going on, people should be ashamed of themselves, pathetic. Let it run its course, in the end isn't that what is going to have to happen anyways before we have a vaccine in place? Im still going out and if I get sick I will stay home, no different than any other time.

News Flash!!! **** April fools day has been cancelled this year as no made up prank could match the unbelievable sh** happening in the real world right now ****

right on!.

To them hoarding the TP ...please don't forget the condoms....gawd forbid you keep reproducing.

Too late. The stupid people have taken over. Herd mentality at it's finest. The general public is so incredibly gullible it is almost unbelievable.

Was talking to my brother in California yesterday, he was out shopping and he ran into Arnold Schwarzenegger of all people at the shopping mall carrying two big bundles of toilet paper in each arm, my brother asked him “hey Arnie, where did you get the toilet paper?” He said “Aisle B...back”

Flatten the curve, slow down the initial spreading.
It isn't fun now, but it makes the situation manageable in the longer run.

John brought up some great points about how it has been handled in other parts of the world. Culture does play a part in some countries as well. Health care rankings are part of the factor, but culture and how people handle the situation play a big part. We have already seen how relatively civilized nations with good health care have poorly managed the culture. It is tough to flatten the curve when it is already climbing fast and good health care systems only have so much capacity.

Maybe we got in the control situation early enough, maybe not? Hard to tell.

It sure doesn't feel like fun right now. I already find myself thinking about basic activities a little differently. I'm sure many are doing the same. I'd love to go back and do whatever I feel without a thought. It might not be the best practice. Maybe if I slow down, I might save the life of the nice little old lady next door. It's still not simple. Do we have the culture to slow this down? We will know soon.

BTW, I didn't stock up on t.p. or sanitizer. I made it through Y2K without stocking up cash and supplies. Somehow, I survived.
