haven't post on this in awhile but 2 months

Was just thinking about you yesterday and how it was coming. Almost sent a PM but didn't want to call you out if things hadn't gone well, figured you didn't need someone bugging you, so glad to hear you've stuck with it!

Congratulations on stopping smoking. It has got to be one of the hardest addiction, especially because they are so readily available.

I'm 49, started when I was 16. As with many other smokers I have quit several times. Had my last cig Dec 26th and not a puff since. Chantix worked for me this last time. The Chantix made it really easy. Only did half the dose you are supposed to take. Would not have wanted to take more as the dreams were quite vivid, even at half the dose. A month of Chantix was good enough. My wife also quit at the same time, which made it so much easier. Have zero urges unless I start talking about smoking.
To those that still smoke: It is so worth it to be away from smoking, monetarily and physically. You just really have to want to stop. It might help to realize that you don't see a bunch of OLD smokers..., and if you do many of them look like old smokers.

Good Luck!

Well, I quit on August 12th. Just over two months ago. Had been smoking for 34 years on an average of about a pack, pack and a half a day. I do use an E-Cig right now but, not one real cig since!!! No more stinky clothes, no standing out in the cold. House don't smell. People don't cringe when they smell me as I walk by. Smoking became embarrassing for me and so socially unacceptable that I just didn't want to do it anymore. Plus, my girlfriend never smoked and hated that I did!!!
Anyway, good luck to all!!!

good for u all down hill from here.
I quit 15yrs ago on the day after my 30th birthday was to sick to smoke and I figured no better time than now.
I was close to 2 packs of camel filters a day.
started when I was 15 and a full pack a day by 17.
I have had a few cigs over the yrs usually when I have had a booze buzz . and they always tasted like some one took a dump in your mouth.
I deff stayed out of the bar that first yr I knew it would be over .but with no bar smoking now days prob not as big of a thing.
now I am still shocked just how rancid some one smells coming in from the cold with a leather jacket on after pulling a heater. has to be the worst smell of the day .
I still let guys smoke in my truck with the widow cracked but not in my or the wife's car

Since this one got "bumped", and I would assume that there my be some new wanna-be "quitters", I wish you luck. Thankfully this is a habit I never had!

Could you be a bit more positive for these folks trying to quit. I smoked from 12-20. Been 33 years since I quit. Truth is you never quit, you become repressed, just like an alcohol addiction. only takes one to be back at it again. I did the "cold turkey" thing and gained 30 pounds that I never did lose. But I can breath, no ash tray breath and thousands of dollars saved in cigs.,doctor bills and increased productivity in my work.

I have a close friend who started Chemo and radiation last week for throat cancer. I hounded her for 5 years to quit. No avail, Started looking at pictures of her over the years, always a cigarette in her hand, Yet she just don't understand, "why me"., she missed important things in her life because she was outside having a smoke with the gang. Now she wants it all back. Not going to happen. She passed off going to a doctor for months about her sore throat and blaming it on everything but smoking.... Now all her friends, my wife and I can not say, "We told you so". We can only pray for her.
So.... Please all JDee'rs who smoke, give it all you got and try, try again to kick that cruel nasty habit.

Thinking 1/1 might be my day to do it. Been smoking 25 years and at 54 it certainly is not helping the aging process. Cost is ridiculous and already warned there will be a smokers premium on health insurance in 2015.
Social stigma sucks too and I am sure I stink of smoke. Was off cigs for 10 months after an illness 3 years ago then beers and snomo trip let my guard down. I learned I cannot even have one, I will be hooked again. Life was easier
for the period I wasn't smoking and I want that back again. Gonna try cold turkey and if I fail I will try Chantex.

Do yourself a favor and get the e cig bong looking thing that ezra mentioned. They really do work. I have been using one for a few months now. I feel so much better, don't have stink, can smoke it in the bar or where ever you get tempted to have a smoke. Plus its way cheaper than smoking!
