Ughhh headed to the Windy City on WednesdayA "Winter Storm Watch" has been posted for the Keweenaw with 12 to 16" possible especially in the higher terrain areas for Tues night through Wed. GFS & Euro models are currently showing a significant amount of snow here. This is not exactly how I would like this to pan out as the ground is still warm, this is going to be a wet mess. Be careful out there if you are traveling anywhere & shovel wisely.
You will be fine once you clear Rhinelander worst of it will be the UP. Just hasn’t been very cold south of Wausau. No sweat.Ughhh headed to the Windy City on Wednesday
That's crazy! They totally pulled all the snow for NW Minnesota on the last forecast I saw.
Jim can you get the groomers out sounds very wet to me might have to wait for freeze to set in???And by Monday morning there will be a million sleds up here thinking because we have 12-24” of snow why aren’t the trails like mid January trails. It’s been raining for the last 4 hours and going to rain most of the day so everything is going to be sloppy wet then get covered with a bunch of snow then eventually get cold. So it will take some time to get things ready.
I personally can't really remember any years that the ground freezes in upper peninsula before the snow. That big lake to the north normally doesn't allow that to happen. So this will be like any other year where they are going to have to rely on sleds to pack the frost downI’ve been waiting for the we need the ground to freeze comments lol. Been a diehard snowmobiler for 20 years and people wish they could control the weather. Ain’t gonna happen. Break up and pack in the wet areas and it’ll freeze up just fine. There’s a reason NWI clubs have Argo’s. I believe it was last January, central WI had 6 weeks of below freezing temps and no snow… I’ll take the snow and work with it then no snow… it’s a start… a great one!
As for sleds going crazy Dec 1, I think anyone diehard enough to go ride right away is experienced and knowledgeable enough to know what will be ready… trail 3 mass to houghton is about it.
