Mercer Snow Goers ask for everybody off trails tonight

Whats everybody think about this

'We are advising and highly suggesting that all snowmobiles are off the trails tonight by 11pm. We will be having our fleet of groomers out from 11pm-8am. We want our trails to set up and freeze tonight so we have a good base for all of you. Again this isn’t mandatory but it will greatly help us save our trails for you.

Thank you,

I can understand their logic, but will be tough to keep everyone off the trails. Shouldn't be too many out at that hour as long as PolarisDan isn't up there. ;)

I see nothing wrong with this as they are clear its not mandatory. Those riders who have plenty of time to ride can stay off. For some who this might be the only trip they can still chose to ride.

PD rides even after the groomers have gone to bed! :) have no problems with them asking folks to do so, hope folks park the sled this evening, have a nice dinner, grab some drinks and get ready to ride tomorrow !

If one day during the busiest week of the year is the only time they can ride, they should just sell the snowmobile.

I wish the trails had been closed for the entire last week. It's so short-sighted to go out in those wet conditions, when it can hurt the quality of the trails for the rest of winter. If those wet moguls freeze in place, that trail will likely be rough for the rest of the year, because the new snow on top will keep re-forming to those icy moguls.

I couldn't agree more! Those frozen moguls may last season long without the right conditions. Groomers worst nightmare to try to deal with.

They were pounding the Trails up here on Sunday Morning in pouring rain, we must have gotten 2” of rain over the weekend.

As an active club member, I would vote use 'em up. That's why maintenance payments are made. If we stayed off every time conditions got marginal, we would have a really short season.

That whole "I'm gonna ride, when I want" attitude sucks!!
Some of you have no clue as to what it takes to groom and maintain trails...smh...thankfully for those people it's not manditory...and those knuckleheads are gonna ride anyway...imo..they should CLOSE, until conditions improve, and lakes are safe and marked. You know damn well some idiot will go through the ice on a lake tonight, and then complain that it's the club's fault for opening the trails and not marking the lakes. When the trails suck in a couple weeks because morons "had to ride"..in the rain and warm weather...dont cry on here about the "lousy clubs" up here not grooming. Some of the comments above show me why our sport is dying.

Actually, if people stayed off the trails when they are slush, we would have a much longer season, since we would have a much better base left underneath.

This forum could use a "like" button.

Iron County clubs: "please stay off the trails until they refreeze and we can groom them".

Illinois resident: "No, I'll ride when I want to."

Real nice.

Agree on all of that Attak man! The IDIOT attitude of now days is this, "I don't care, unless, except to BITCH"! That SUCKS! Just as a real good old friend lof mine used to say many years back, "There's too much "To **** with you, and Hurray for me in this world anymore"!
