Heading up to Munising on Friday morning and have heard that they have been getting snow almost every day since last week when trails were thin ( had a Buddy ride out of White Fawn) .Has anyone been there this week to report? Can you get to Big Spring yet, heard last week it was very thin and mostly rocks...Is it better going north and west towards Marquette, or head North and east to Grand Marias...?

Got back this after noon Friday through today, 15plus inches of snow while we were there and all trails seemed in pretty good condition. even made it down to Big spring , although it was thin, went to Chattem and there was 20" plus inches of fresh. Had a great weekend,

What is the best way to get out of Christmas to Trail 8, taking trail 7 or going down trail 419 through Munising?

My suggestion would be 7. Haven't been on 419 through town this week.
BTW, wish all trails were as good as Munising this week!

heading to Munising 2nd weekend in Feb, just curious on any input of if we will be able to do two 200mile day loops with minimal back tracking with the snow in the area, one days head east and next heading west? as stated we are look to do probably between 180-220 miles a day loops with little or no back tracking, so head east then loop back towards the south then opposite the next day.

Thanks in advance

Was up during the LES snow pile up last week Sun-Wednesday. We stayed in Wetmore right on the Trail. We rode mostly East from there all the way to Pine Stump. Between Munising and Grand Marais was all good-excellent. From Grand Marais to Pine Stump snow went down quickly. Still good riding, just could see where the snow fell off a bit. We rode West day 2 towards Big Bay, didn't go very far. Stopped in Christmas and word was snow got thin around Marquette/Ishpeming. Could have changed since then, been few days since we left. Best riding in my opinion was between Munising and Grand Marais. We are headed back up Super Bowl Sunday for couple day, same area. Hoping for more snow west so we can maybe head to Big Bay for a day. You will be able to do loops that distance branching off of 8, but may find yourself back on 8 more than you planned. 8 east of Munising is a straight up superhighway for miles and miles allowing lots of distance to be cranked out in a hurry. Plenty of options to branch off though if you want to get off the grade.

Just got back from Wetmore today rode from Monday thru tuesday night. Rode to grand marais, pine stump, seney, newberry, paradise, etc. 500 plus miles in two days and was some of the best riding ive done. Between both days and this morning i would safely say they received 8+ inches of snow. Not sure how the warm up this weekend will do but just wanted to share how great the trails were. Saw about 7 groomers out on tuesday as well.
