Pay scale

I wish I had half the ambition this guy has! It's he** to get old!

As to mechanics getting $5 per hour back then; they did! At least here in the U.P. I was one.

Runs like a champ now!

Spent all day going around picking up junk because it's our towns junk day where you can put stuff at the curb for free. Got a trailer full of $steel$ :D

The chain and tensioner are on now too, but the cover seal doe NOT wanna stay on :(

1 ski on (took 3 hours to get a hole drilled out to 3/8"..... no lie here), track tightened up, got the torsion spring on, chaincase all buttoned up, just waiting for the sealant to try to put some oil in there. I messed with the seal I spent $8 on for an hour and could not figure it out, I just put gasket sealant on the cover and said screw it. Hopefully it seals up good. Waiting to get the bolts out of the other ski, paint it up, and put it on to post some finished pics. That MAY be awhile, I have no clue what to do... 10 minutes of heat did not fix it, and I have to drill out a grade 8 bolt thats seized. I broke an extractor and used vice grips on it when the end was sticking out. She's STUCK. It runs great now, stupid in-tank pick-up line! And my mom found a metal clothes hanger and I got it out in a minute.

Indy, try heating it then cooling it quickly.Do this 3-4 times then try to move the bolt. This method has surprised me a few times on things I almost gave up on.

Can't get that darned hole drilled out to 3/8"! It just needs to go about 1/16" bigger, but once your so close, the next size drill bit doesn't want to drill it out, it just doesnt' work. I have to sit there and file the hole out like I did with the last one.

fun sled had same one for a few years when was in high school as well. think it had 4" in the rear suspension but was fun cornering with those cleats. great find, can't beat the price.

Back in the day I couldn't afford such a fine machine. I was still riding my 71 puma that my uncles & grand-father gifted me ( they owned a dealership in Marcy NY ). I got it when I was 14. ( I didn't know what cornering was back then ) Better yet... my budd bought our neighbors Dads 643 Yami 3 cyl, he had it painted with " Pussy Cat Eater " on the windshield. Used to tow him back just about every ride. Actually I would tow him to the closest road, then dbl time it back to the house and get my 4 door 69 chevelle , and tow him back down the roads ( that thing was a tank ). I have to admit when the 643 triple hooked up going down the R & R tracks he left me behind.... that was until it broke down......... ( LOL ). Those were the days ! ! ! I'll tell ya, I knew everything....

Indy, you should have waited it out until you found an old Arctic " Z " ! That was a machine.
