I agree it is what it is for now ....later maybe something can happen...if Fox doesn't like what he sees on grass #2 will get a shot.

yea no doubt he won't be afraid to sit him if performance is poor like last year.

I do like the accusitions on defense. Im assuming draft will be mostly defense. I can say this for sure, they cant be less competitive than last year! But im going into this season with way less expectations. They are the 3rd or 4th best team in division until they proove otherwise.

Bears have to bring in people that can play the 3-4 defense & are doing that with recent signings....also speed at WR. Cutler does better with speedy receivers than the big slower strong guys like Marshall. Big targets are good but still need speed to stretch the field & get points in 1 throw. IDK Bears might be able to eek out an 8-8 record but no better than that. I think fans just want to see a competitive football team instead of the Trestman 1st quarter blowouts with no chance of a comeback. Fox & staff will get the most out of players where the team quit on Trestman & his game plan plain sucked & players knew it!

momoney: have you been paying attention?.... Switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 scheme, the Bears have signed five free agents since the beginning of the league year March 10 in defensive ends Ray McDonald and Jarvis Jenkins, linebackers Pernell McPhee and Mason Foster, and safety Antrel Rolle.
Not sure who will make the team for the season but could be all new LBs & front 4. Fox will find out quickly who can play & who can't & sure has created competition at those positions. I'm not sure the draft will be defense like everyone thought with all the D signings .... I'm liking this:)

Yeah ive seen it. Like the pickups thus far. No big names big money like they have done in the past. Good proven discount players. Im know at least with this coaching staff the bears wont be a complete embaressment like last year.

Pace must hit in the draft still tho. I read a article today predicted the bears to trade up for the #1 pick and taking winston. Lmao. I hope they dont do that. Pace has stated he will take the best available player no matter what position and he also stated he believes in drafting or signing a college QB every year. I still hope they take bryce petty. We will see....i have mixed feelings about the #7 pick. There will be a stud WR, LB and d tackle available. Which one will he take.

As much as I dislike Jay, I'd take him over Winston. Winston will be a bust IMO. Once he has some cash, it's all over.

Yea i agree. I think he has the tools to be good but to much self entitlement. Kinda like manziel. They believe they are never wrong. I do give credit to manziel for entering rehab. Maybe he is realizing he is wrong for what he was doing off the field. If winston grows up he could be alright, but no way im handing him the keys to the franchise. Heck i wouldnt give him the keys to my car

Hard to believe that would happen Winston gone 1 or 2 but never know what other teams are thinking?

The guys article said the bears were gona trade up to #1. In order to do that the bears would have to give up at least 2 future 1st round picks plus the 7th pick. No thanks. If winston was andrew luck id be all for it. but he has way to much baggage, IMO

I like the idea of drafting or signing a QB every year until they finally get one thats good. until then build the trenches up and stay competetive. I see a lot of mock drafts sayin bears are gonna take WR is first round. kevin white or amari cooper.

Same thing I'm seeing a stud WR with #7. No use trading away the bears future for Winston they need too much talent everywhere at this time. D will be much better & O good on paper so I'm thinking a 500 club with great coaching this year. Trestman was a disaster but cleaned house & hired super good management & coaches. Bears will be much better this year & D line & LBs will look much different this year no idea who will be on dline & LBs but not the same bodies as last year that's for sure so more trades coming after Fox sees them on grass.

I like the direction and type of players they are targeting. They cant be any worse than last years debacle.
We will see similiar players on offense. See if the coaches can slow jays turnovers and rely more on running and playin D.
Im keeping my expectations low after last year. Id say over or under is 7 wins. But the beauty is the NFL is a mad scientist and anything can happen.

ask the Cleveland browns how that drafting or signing a QB every year thing has worked out.
I think they're on #23 since the year 2000.

Its not goint to be easy to find a QB and frankly takes some luck. I forget the exact # of QB's they mentioned the other day on radio. But it was something like out of the last 75 Qbs drafted only 3 or 4 are any good.

But I see how that strategy has worked for the Pats and your packers ;)

They just need another back to give forte time to catch his breath once in a while.

Carey was supposed to be that back but sucked ,imo, ....he is north & south & not very good at that...probably be gone this summer as Bears draft RBS & take a look on grass. Still need the big goal line RB a beast that can make that tuff yard. I'm thinking Carey is odd man out unless he shows vast improvement. Also need a fast kick return back ...maybe Rogers will do that too.

Carey never really got a chance last year. He struggled with pass protection and learning the offense so trestman would never play him. Im not saying he's a world beater but i want him to get the ball more and see. Fox always has 3 or 4 backs on squad to hand the ball to. So Id bet forte will have 2 people behind him at least. I thought they said on radio that rodgers isnt very fast? FYI they are saying they are probably going to be eliminating kick off returns for safety, maybe this year. So i wouldnt invest much in that area. I see the bears just signed another LB from the cardinals.

Rogers better be quick or his undersize wil get him killed. ..lol... As far as Cary goes to me a good RB will contribute in 1st year when you put the ball in his hands....I didn't see much from Carey to make me hopeful regarding his N-S talents but agree Foxy will have depth at RB to do his fav thing run the ball. They might as well eliminate kick off returns not many returned from deep inside the end zone anyway but will always be punt returners.

Pace is busy signing 2nd tier defensive free agents & some of these players seem to be good & want to play for Fox. It appears there will be many new players on the Bears D this year & the d line is getting crowded some of these guys won't make it no matter what they are getting paid.

Rodgers isnt a burner. Hes young, reliable and a good blocker. Him and carey will start as the backups. Pace is just adding depth, im lovin it. Gives some optimism to next year. I have a feeling he is going to take a WR first pick. But Im all for the best player available approach vs what you need in first round. Bear down
