Andie - I can't wait to see pics of the puppy!

K-Boo and Squat - Have fun riding this weekend. I hope the snow doesn't melt away.

Julie - Dustin did a great job! Hopefully now that a certain person got his head out of his butt you and BigVin will continue to get unemployment benefits.

Well, I had a compression test and a leak down test done on my truck yesterday. The verdict is worn piston rings and the fix is a rebuilt engine at the cost of approximately $4,300. Apparently all the rings were bad across the board. How can that be? I don't think I the mileage is excessive at 99,000 plus most of the miles I have on the truck are highway miles which I think are basically easy miles on the truck. It figures I would get stuck with a defective engine. I can't wait to pay for this one, especially since I have to figure out where I'm going to get all the money from since I don't have it. Oh well, that's how my life has been going lately. I know, I should stop complaining. It could be worse.

Just a few more hours of work today and then I get to be an assistant kayak instructor at the Y tonight. I have assisted in classes a couple of times now and I think I have actually helped a couple of people improve, so it is somewhat rewarding and also fun. Later gators....

Scoopy - that's terrible! I wonder if it would be worth a 2nd opinion?? I too find it hard to beleive that.......but I guess you just never know. Who knew my sled (my first one) would blow up after only a couple hundred miles too......

Juls - tell Dustin, you and he did a very nice job!

Taking E back to the radiologist this afternoon - another shot of cortizone (or something) to his back and hopefully - he'll be back to 100%!!! I don't want to have to pick out the puppy ON SATURDAY by myself.
But - I'm so excited about the puppy I can hardly believe it! Seems like forever ago that we knew the litter was born etc.........

Kboo - Squat - have fun - and shoot - I still have the washcloth I accidentally took from there - meant to give it to you to take back to the Walleye Lodge for me! DOH!

Uh oh - Nate - are the smiley's really out there for us to play with! YEEHAW! :p

SMILIES! Yeah! :D

Scoopy - NO WAY! No way will it really be 4,300!!! I had to have a brand new engine put in my van and it wasn't that expensive...

Shoot - you need to call Doug's brother Brett - he got a brand new motor from Chevy for 1/2 of what it would cost having the work done at the dealer. Brett is a top notch mechanic and I know he can get it done for ya real quick... but you've have to come see me!!!

Thanks for the Kudos on the project - we had a blast doing it!

Today we took the kids out of school at Noon and took them to Doug's fields in Owatonna and we rode in ALL UNTOUCHED SNOW! It was pretty deep too... some places nearly 2 feet!

The kids were learning how to carve on their little 340 Ovations and they kicked BUTT! Jim had his 1000 Highmark out there and Doug has his 800 - so me and the boys were drag racing!!! I raced with Doug's 800 and holy crap I LOVE the take off on that thing! Rares up like a big ol' stallion!!

Since I spent the day playing, I will be spending the rest of the evening doing homework - but it was worth it!!

REV IT UPx3!

Jul :)

Well I hated to do it but we cancelled our reservtions for next weekend, conditions just aren't good enough for us to make the drive.

Gave my youngest son his birthday present a day early (on Tuesday) instead of yesterday, a Ford Ranger Splash, things went really good, I guess I kinda surprised him cause he had that deer in the headlights look and a great big smile that never quit, it gave him alot of incentive to pass his drivers test yesterday and get his license, which he did, so I think we made some progress, in that department(I hope I did anyway), I really need to thank Kelly for all she has done to help with the truck (maybe a weekend away just the 2 of us).

I couldn't get two consecutive weekend trips approved by upper management (wife), so now I'm sitting, hoping, praying that we'll be able to ride yet next weekend (11th-14th). Come on March snow storm!!! Where the heck are you?

Guess we will play it by ear, and pray for a big one to hit cause I'm not really ready to quit yet, got too late of a start to stop now, but I'm not gonna tear up the sleds either, sure would be nice to get one more ride.

Toasty!

Whew!

Saturday, March 6th,....
It's just past 2pm here and 50 freaking degrees.
Each year the snowmobile season is shorter,... and shorter,.....
factor in the regular "thaws",.... YIKES.
I gotta get a job, so I can buy a 4-wheeler.
Man, when I was a Kid,... We had snow from Thanksgiving to Easter,...
Now,...
A couple weeks in Dec. A couple in Jan. and A couple in Feb.
Oh well,...
Let the sunshine in.

Off to tool around the yard of mashed potato snow in my sweatshirt.
(2 groups of motorcycles just drove by).

Think * Beer!

Depressing watching it happen. I hate this time of year. Even if we would happen to get a March snow storm, it'll probably be too late, with the base all gone.

OK - We are officially "parents" again! Smoke is home and sound asleep in his kennel. Bart is not so sure about this new addition to the family.

Ya Dave I keep an eye on it, but my buddy isn't running this year he can only afford to run about every other year. I think this year I will cheer for Martin Buser, he has won in a few years and he's due. I already have the link in my favorites he at work and at home, have you ever been out there for the start, its pretty crazy.

Nope, never been to Alaska. It's on my bucket list though. We did watch and follow the John Beargrease race on the MN North Shore for several years when the kids were younger. We'd pick it up at the 1/2 way/turnaround point and follow the leaders to the finish. The check points were a lot of fun, watching and listening to all the planning and mind games. At least back then, you could get pretty close to all the action and with so few spectators, the mushers were pretty open and never had a problem with it. I don't really have a favorite this year, but Buser is really a pretty cool guy. I was still pulling for Mackey last year yet, but I think it's time for someone else again...if anyone can beat that mad man. We have a MN guy, Blake Freking from Finland, MN that I'd like to see do well. I'll probably see how the race plays out before I start rooting for anyone in particular once the race really gets going.

Going to the Auto show this afternoon. Anything to avoid thinking about the meltdown.

I met Martin when I was up there for the 2005 Jr. Iditarod that my goddaughter raced in his son Rone(sp) was running the Jr. and he was following via sled same as us, he was runnign up and down the Big Su trying to get his Yamaha to run over 110 on the speedo, don't know if he ever did or not, acouple day's later he had an accident in his wood shop and cut off part of his finger and started the big race 3 day's later, quite a charactor, but that is common place in Alaska.

"Lake Vin"

Ahoy!

Wow,... with all this rain,... Between my neighbors house and mine,...
I now have "LAKE VIN".
If I were a little kid,... I'd be foaming at the mouth, trying to devise
a raft to go and play in it. LOL!
With next weeks Mid-to-High 50's forecasted along with Sunny skies
(to dry up the mess)
I am pumped for an early hopeful summer.
I hate to say this,... but the possibility for a HUGE snowfall dumping
after we have already "had" Spring,... would suck.
All trails have the gates up here,... and all a big snow would do now,..
is make an even bigger mess (along with really ticking me off)
Just our luck,....
Oh well.
Have a fabulous weekend y'all!

Now,....
where's my beer?

:)

BigV: Here's a nice cold one for ya....

I hear ya...imagine if this snow was rain....it has been raining for 3 days here.

At least the rain is washing the salt and sand off the road so the bikes can come out an play.

"imagine if this snow was rain"

That's almost like pouring salt in the wound. This is March and all this rain should have been snow! Maybe next year.
