89 indy 500 got her when she was new now shes the ice fishing sled.....

The late 80's Indy's were ahead of their time in terms of chassis and suspension.

About to pass 10k miles on my '89 Indy 500. Got it for free from a guy that said it needed a new ignition.

All we did was clean it up, and it ran fine! It's got a 1.5" track, so it gets around ok off trail. I've been riding with my buddies on their fancy 144" and 153" sleds, and I've been having a blast!

my brother in law is a trooper,he's 50 years old and we went to the u.p. last week and put on 550 miles and he rides an 88 exciter that we rebuilt using three snowmobiles to make one good one.that was a fun summer project.

My first sled i ever rode was a chaparral with a hirth 440. My uncel was a sled nut and he took my out for my first rip. I now have two 1972 chaparrals and i think i get a bigger smile out of riding that sled than i do on the new ones. So get a old sled go rip it up old school!

I had one of those the inviter that is. I called it the couch due to the comfort or the harley due to the handle bar shape, that was a fun sled, still wish I had it.

I had one up until last year with less than 70 miles on it. Was going to just hang on to it, but sold it for $1900, to a fellow in Europe who wanted it.

Now how many of YOU guys got more than full price of a sled you owned??

It was a nice sled with electric start and short track, moveable rear backrest and sipped gas like nothing today with that little one lung engine.

That was when Yamaha was building stuff to last....no compromising.

lol, polarisrider1's breath smells like gas!!! Good one but does your mom go on John Dee?

c'mon you've never siphoned gas out of your parents vehicles? my siphon don't work very good though, i was one E and i needed to go to school and i couldn't find any cash so at 6:45 in the morning i was out there siphoning gas, luckily my mom never noticed. she filled up the day before so it's not like it was on E or anything.

I still syphon (sic?) gas. Had to this past Saturday. The switchback was empty and the RMK was full. I choose to ride the switch so I syphoned gas over. Got a mouth full and burped it all day. lol. Even the wet burrito at the Moose Jaw (west of Pellston) wouldn't cut it. Felt like a kid again!

Regular or premium? Might want to take a swig of Stabil next time. Might help instead of the Burrito!

old sleds

blizzardmk,
I was kidding about having no get up and go. I was trying to post a pic of my 76 Sno Twister. I have had 1 or 2 old racers.
