It's the shot of booze you take after downing your beer. When you get to that age(21) you'll find out. Just remember the results aren't always the greatest. =)

What was the top speed of the snow twister? I remember riding a john deer liquifier for my first ride when I lost it in a cornfield in deep snow! Nothing runs like a deer!

Old sleds??? many of you guys are calling late 80's and early 90's sleds old. Come on now those things are modern compared to what I had when I was growing up.

When I was little my first sled was a 72 kitty cat. Then I grew in to a late 60's scamp. When I was old enough to have full sized sled it was a 1971 AMF/Harley Davidson 399cc. It was my dads old sled. When the ignition went out and could not find parts it was time to upgrade to a 1977 Sno-Jet SST 340. Still to date that was the lightest sled I have ever had and probably had the most fun on. It was not very fast, but it sure was a lot of fun.

I may be aging, but my family has been to sleds for a long time. When I bought my first sled with my own money it was a 1977 model year and the year was 1980 something.

X2 6 mile. My first sled I payed for with my own money was a 1973 Puma 440 cat . And at the time it was only 4 or 5 years old. (I loved that sled.) I Was 15 at the time.

Hey, who remembers having to rivet on the hyfax?

Old sled are also easier (& cheaper) to work on. I just did some body work on our 95 Indy Lite because my son had an argument with the back of my sled and lost.

ah, the riveted hyfax! 72 TNT Silver Bullet. Really narrow ski stance. Probably could fit 3 abreast on a 8.5x10 trailer today!

Yeah, that's what I'm talkin about. I've got one of those Hirth's in my 800 Rupp Magnum. We just returned from our annual vintage ride in the UP. Had 24 sleds, 17 guys for 4 days of riding. Had to drag a few more back than normal, but what a gas.

Nice! My dad had a 650 Hirth in his Panther with montana pipes. My ears still bleed when I just think about it:)

This makes me remember my first sled[highly modified] with alky carbs, piped, cyllinder head mods, and lightened everything. It had so much compression that we had to go to a bigger rope. She was never beat in straight line competition. I can still smell the alky/CastorR burn off!

The first sled I ever had was a 1968 Ski-Doo Olympique 370 that my dad bought used. My second sled was a 1975 Ski-Doo Olympique 300 (even had electric start). Nothing like riding 3600 miles on a bogie wheel suspension. I guess that's what they call the Good Old Days.

1st sled was a 72 Cheetah and it had an electric start ( when it worked )
Used to love mixing that good old Purple Power Lube.
