Can't remember the year but the first sled I bought was a Chapparal Firebird 440 liquid. Was after they went out of biz. Still in the crate some assembly required. Then on to a 79 Kawasaki 440 Invader. Went like it's a## was on fire rode terrible( great for it's day) , but man I was livin' large!

Obviously, I am not much of a sledder, I have never owned anything newer than mid 1970's. My first was a 1969 Allouette and my second was a Massey Ferguson Ski Whiz 444 (not sure of the year). The Ski Whiz looked like a lawn tractor and went like it had 4wd compared to all my friends sleds. 3 of us kids could comfortably ride on it and my job was to blaze trails for everyone else.

I have had a few more mid-1970 sleds as an adult. I have had 2 mottos when riding....never go further than I am willing to walk back....and ride for an hr, wrench for an hr.

When I started riding it was wrench and wrench some more. ride to the edge of the yard, wrench again. then I got the 1972 Polaris Colt 175 for Christmas. wrenching drastically was reduced to syphonning gas and changing belts and plugs.
