the plains out eastern up is on the trail map and easy to find... why not have something similar out in the western up.

have a couple easy to locate off trail "hubs" on the trail so everyone gets on the same page. two weeks ago almost nailed a off trail guy jumping on the trail.... "off trail intersection ahead" would solve that issue. the state should capitalize on this huge increase in off trail traffic. i am very close to buying an off trail sled myself powder/jumping/crashing into **** are all starting to sound more and more fun. trails are getting boring.

also saturdays from 8am - 6pm needs to be considered family time on the trails.
wanna ride fast? ride fast at night. plan out the stops along 24 hr gas pumps.

WAAAAAAY back in the days of cleated tracks, we had a hill in our back yard, that my dad used to give us rides around on, and literally tear the **** out of the grass, right down to the frozen dirt one year (Key word being FROZEN dirt). The next summer, that grass needed mowing TWICE AS OFTEN as the rest of the yard.

So yeah, take it for what its worth when people complain about seeing a few blades of grass in the snow from a snowmobile. It doesn't hurt a thing except for what you see a that moment!

But, it is everyone's right to want their pristine snow yard disturbed or not.

in my alfalfa field we race in circles, pull kids on sleds, etc and never noticed a difference between that field and the one we dont ride in much....
I have to say though, when the snow is not very deep and I see where it is tore down to dirt and leaves a bare patch it kinda pisses me off and I did it to my own field....

The next time a property owner gets tired of sleds riding off the marked trail and refuses to allow a trail to run across his land, I'll be sure to argue that the guys on JD say that snowmobiles dont hurt nothin. That and a buck fifty will get me a gtfo and bad cup of coffee in a cardboard cup. The property owner's opinion is the only one that matters here. We can only reroute a field trail so many times before we're left with marking roadside ditches, and making it that much it easier for law enforcement to do their job. ;)

***...I already explained that landowners permission is there choice only....real simple....don't BS a landowner when getting permission and be sure they know that the club will make reperations if damage occurs.

There is my answer to your hypothetical sky falling scenarios.

LOL SB. Another great thing about losing trails and riding ditches is you're limited to whatever the speed limit is on the road. Around here farm roads are posted at 45 mph. Yay for the guys too important to stay on the trail. :D

You got a complete handle on all landowner opinions and tolerence??? No ...you got nuthin....here is a fact, no drama...in 99.9% of all tracks in snow...ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE EXISTS.

My opinion is mine. Your opinion is the opposite of others just to get a rise. And it changes from moment to moment causing you to edit the majority of your posts.
FYI, I have a life so I'm limited to the time I can play on here with you. So bedazzle me with your clever snarky BS already.

heres another take....that field that everyone does this on.....so your new to sledding and you just bought or rented one....you go online or ask the dealer where does everyone ride these things....hes says well Houghton is the capital so try there 1st maybe.....so they do....and I know that trail...heres WHATS ACTUALLY HAPPENING and it can be rectified....your going on the trail....theres STAY ON THE TRAIL SIGNS EVERY WHERE AND AT SPACED INTERVALS.....so almost all obey this....then remember your new....all of a sudden the signs are no more...aboot a tad later you come upon this BIG BEAUTIFUL DEEP SNOW FIELD with tracks all over and not a STAY ON TRAIL SIGN ANYWHERE....so you take your turn in the field....and after you get back on the trail theres the signs again....in the past this is how its been.....no one puts up STAY ON TRAIL SIGNS and they should be twice as numerous as they were down the trail....could never figure out why for the life of me they do not put extra signs and maybe a orange fence in the area that looks like ya can take off and mark the field up....now this was in the past and I don't go there anymore because of all this....so someone please tell me if its still this way...cause if it is....that's the problem...and at each and every field entrance or parallel to the field it was always wide open and no signs in that exact area...is it still this way today????
