Turn around and run away. There are reasons it is a steal. Many things were tried but no definitive fix was ever agreed on. Hopefully the new 2011's are going to work. All previous Pol 800 twins have had issues.

I know what you are trying to say, but not all PREVIOUS 800's had issues. pre 06 were just fine. The pre power valves where fantastic motors. My brother has 14,600 miles on my 01 XCSP I sold him with 8800 miles on it the first 2 yrs I had it. 3rd track (because of stud pull thru) and 1 drive bearing is it. If the 2011's RMK's have issues I will go back to Doo. I better lock in Doorider1 just in case? hope not.

Oh! back to the question. I would not buy it. I truly believe the bugs are not worked out yet on the newer 800's. The 700 is a better choice.

Pre exhaust valve 800s like to break crankshafts on the PTO side. That is why there is an aftermarket kit to beef up the bearing on that side. Polaris will tell you that this is a 'vendor issue' with regards that the responsibility lies with the crankshaft manufacturer but it is what it is. The engineering might well have been adequate but the finished product was not. This was a big reason they got away from Fuji. They thought they could have better control over their finished product if they 'built' their own Liberty motors. However some parts are still farmed out. I'm glad your brother had good luck. I know of quite a few that didn't have such good luck. Also, even when they ran they are dreadfully slow (compared to an Arctic 800 or a four cylinder Yammi) and suck gas like there is no tomorrow. The power valved XCSP 800 loved to injest the power valves and destroy the upper half (if you were lucky) of the engine. Polaris just has a really bad history here. As I said I hope they get it right this time for 2011.

The new 2011 800 Pro R Rush will be put to the test the week before Christmas, on my first snowmobile trip. Also my 2009 800 Dragon will get the latest re flash that came out this last spring.
I have been lucky my 2009 800 Dragon has always run great, my friend had a 2009 800 IQ no problems almost 2,000 miles on it sold it 3 months ago bought a new 2011 800 Rush also. I had to keep my 2009 800 Dragon I could only get $4,400 for a trade or less I kept it.

PCIII or PCV controller is the fix. Many happy 800 owners afterwards. Just costs a bit of dough for a plug and play fix...

I have 2 dealers I deal with, one in IL and 1 in WI. I don't believe that because the new sleds of all makes do not hold there value. I will deliver my 2009 800 Dragon to anyone who will pay $6,000 for it.

With North Country gone! There phone still works???
I picked my 2011 800 Rush up in IL a few months ago, so I have not had time to call up North to North Country. The dealer in IL 2 weeks ago told me about the newest re flash for my Dragon, so it will have the one like the 2011 Rush.

This why I deal with 2 dealers if one goes under I have a backup!
The 2009 800 IQ went for $4,000 on trade for new Rush. Nobody wanted it.

If any one has a dealer who will give a big price on used sleds let me Know?
I checked 5 Polaris dealers in WI all would give within 100 to 200 dollars in trade for 2011 800 Rush!

It is simply amazing to me that anybody who owned an '08-'10 Poo CFI 800 would even consider buying Polaris after the *** reaming they gave to so many customers. I sold my '09 Switchback 800 recently (not gonna miss it one bit) and in the 20 yrs. of buying Poo machines, I never owned one that was a bigger pain in the *** than that sled.

NORTH COUNTRY is still in business, just not a POLARIS dealer for new sales any longer.

They still will service POLARIS stuff.

Several other dealers in Northern Wisc and U.P. also no longer POLARIS dealers, Tom's Ontanogan, and a few others.

Sad...........................................................................

I have one of Jim's maps on my DRAGON 700. From the factory it had that annoying mid range LEAN spot, felt like I accidentally hit the kill switch.

RICHER in the mid-range and LEANER on TOP end for the last 2 seasons, runs great

3900 + miles, and very happy with the PC-3 and Jim's map

It'll be the BEST $25 you'll ever spend

Yes it is sad and Poo has nobody to blame but themselves. You can't continue to use and abuse the customer as R&D to refine your product, it's gonna catch up to you and I think Poo is facing the harsh reality of it. It's hard enough to sell new sleds in this economy when you have a great product, it's way harder with a product with a bad history. The market is flooded with non current Poo '08 - '10 Poo CFI 800's, wonder why that is.

and when there compare what a joke the new 2011 800 is disgraceful my 04 cat 700 had more hp and torque than a 2011 800 poo. now what a joke close to 20 hp under the other 2 oem 800s and with the other 2 you can have a bit of confidence that the mapping is spot on.but if you buy a 08 and then buy a power commander dink around for a bit you will have a good sled

I know that you shouldn't have to but.... BUY A POWER COMMANDER!! I know I know.... really though it is what it takes. I know a lot of people w/o the pc3 pc4 or pc 5 didn't have trouble but it makes a **** of a sled with one. Why is it that no one mentions the ride and handling of the iq or now even better the rush chassis?? Snoghnut you must have been screwed hard because every post you have made about these sleds you get pissed off.... Don't know what happened but i can tell you alot of people were happy with these sleds.
