Rotax Ace 900

You get the r-motion but not the running board adjuster
Any Idea why they would not have the running board adjuster on this model? Where I was confused was if you look on the page, it shows one on the suspension picture. Guess my dealer did the same thing when he first thought they did offer it on this model. He really did not have an explanation as to why they would not have it as an option.

No , I am talking about the torque the 900 is a puller like the 1200

I'm confused now too? Are you saying the 900Ace pulls same as doo 1200 you realize your are talking 45 HP difference 1200 =135HP .....900Ace= 90HP not the same league in any way by the numbers?

900 ace

I got to test one this weekend at Lando Lakes Rec. I took Pics and a vid and will post some later.. The 900 Ace TNT was a great sled to ride . Lots of GRUNT from 0 to about 90 mph. All the modes worked great for riders to learn how to ride. I go 280 lbs and the Ace pulled hard. It is so quite you do not even think you are going that fast. My next sled will have this motor with a X package. With the miles I ride in one year this line up will save me gas dollars. I ride about 4000 miles a year.. I will put Pics up to night..

Ok understand now sometimes demo excitement clouds reality then comes back to the middle later. 4s have nice broad power band so no doubt 900Ace will get up & go but thinking most would not buy 900 Ace for big ponies more of low cost of operation sled that has enough power for trail brappers. 600 Ace not nearly enough hp.IMO

Hey Pit, throw up that video you have of the 900 ACE. I would love to see it.

Had a chance to ride a 900 ACE Friday and was impressed! Smooth & quiet!

Don't recall it being mentioned, but I didn't feel any engine breaking with this 4-stroke. The triple sure is smooth!

If anyone has the chance, take one for a ride.

I took the 900 ACE out today for a test drive and was very impressed. The unit I drove was the TNT. I was hoping to try the Renegade, but I did get a good feel for this engine. I had track spin when punching it from a stop and I think this is where the Renegade would help. I liked it a lot. The torq was really good out of the hole and I think for anyone looking to do trail riding that falls into the 30-60mph range will be very pleased. I've been riding my wife's 1200 a lot lately to get use to a ski doo and have fell in love with how that sled rides, but it does get a little tiring after 200+mi days. I'm coming off of a 1100T Cat, which is a lot to handle in the tight twisty's I ride. I've really been paying close attention to the speed I ride at and I think the 900 Ace will fit the bill perfectly. I want something that I can throw around easier in the corners and still have the torq coming out. The fun factor was still there with this sled and I now realize I don't need a turbo and do 115mp across the lake anymore. Hardly ever do it and when I do, it's get there then back down to 80. Yes it felt lighter than the 1200 and I thought the Throttle by Wire was pretty cool. Such a light feeling to the throttle. There is engine breaking in Sport mode, but not in standard. Overall I was very pleased with this sled and I think I will be ordering a 900 Gade. I only had a short straight to open it up and I hit 150kmh. I think that is around 94mph. It still was slowly climbing but I ran out of room on the trail. The ski doo rep was telling me how they have been getting 24-26 mpg in sport mode. I'm not sure if I'm believing that.

It would be sweet if they gave a turbo option with this 900 Ace motor. Maybe they will soon?? I would love to have a fairly lightweight sled that doesn't lose power at high elevation like a naturally aspirated sled does. If a turbo gave it 140-150 hp for example and all 140-150 hp would be available when mountain riding, sign me up. Sure, my 800 etec would have more power in the flatlands, but in the mountains, a nice light 4 stroke turbo would be the ticket for me.

Nice review summerjet, good to hear you were able to get out and ride one!

Curious how performance would be affected in the Renegade-longer track model?

Thought I'd add this link to the 900 ACE vs. 600 E-tech run that was done earlier today in Eagle River.

My 600 etec renegade was quicker than a 600 etec tnt but he would get me on top , about 3 mph difference I think for short track

Back up in the UP again riding our 2011 Yamaha Vector LTX's and feeling it is not time to trade. Still love the Vectors ride, power and comfort. Also dealers are so full of inventory of used sleds they are low balling trade in value for sleds even with warranty left on them. After the ride so far this week, wondering why I was thinking about trading. Guess I will wait until the 900 ACE has a year on it and any bugs worked out.

SnowTech editor's take on the new ACE 900

Sounds like a favorable review on the 900 ACE...

SnowTech magazine editor Kevin Bielke has put more than 1,600 miles/2 575 km on a prototype 2014 Renegade model powered by our new Rotax ACE 900 engine with iTC (intelligent Throttle Control). He sent us this e-mail to communicate his impressions of the sled so far:
BRP,

My favorite sled – whatever it is — has the rMotion rear suspension. That is the best, no contest. I thought it was our E-TEC 800R Renegade X, or maybe the E-TEC 600 H.O. MX Z X, but we just got a 2014 prototype Renegade ACE 900 4-stroke. This sled is amazing. On paper it says it has only 90 HP, but on the snow it pulls great with a wide torque band and it is so smooth, so tractable, so quiet, easy to ride, and gets like 20+ MPG. It is the first 4-stroke that isn’t nose heavy. It just blows my mind at how good it runs, and is actually a very fast sled up to 80 mph. It pulls hard out of the corners but doesn’t spin the track.

You hear more track noise than the engine – you would swear it is an electric snowmobile.

Everyone that rides it says it is the Lexus of snowmobiles. It just plain works. Puts all other 4-strokes to shame. Only the 600 & 800 E-TECs are even close, or a 1200 4-TEC. Or maybe the 600 ACE, but that just doesn’t have quite enough power. The 900 does. Forget HP, it is all about the torque. This is usable power, even in two feet of fresh lake effect snow, it goes and goes. You will not believe what this sled is capable of.

Best sled we have ever had, if I dare make that claim. I must be nuts, but it is that impressive. The ride quality from the 2014 rMotion is unmatched, rough trails are a total non-issue. Got the sled last Wednesday and we already have 1,600 miles on it. And it burns 87 octane fuel – that’s 50 cents a gallon less than premium right now. This sled will change the way you think of 4-strokes, and will change the way you think a snowmobile should be.

Ski-Doo has just changed the rules, yet again.

How will this sled engine preform on a 1200+ mile/7 day trip through Canada? Has it got enough? I am looking at a Renegade. How do these 900 ace sleds compare as to steering and handling on 2011 and after 1200's? Any info much appreciated!
