Some real loosers in this activity we call snowmobiling

Keep up with the great work you do for everyone on your site!!! I don't comment to often, but I love reading your forcasts. I am sure there are more people like me out there.
Thank you for everything!!
Howie

I've been following your site for a decade or more and you have been right more than you've been wrong, don't let a few people get you down, when most on this site really appreciate what you do and the time you take to do it. Plus my area was one that was hit with heavy snow, about 12" and still snowing. Exactly how long has this site been around? Sure feels like 10 or more years.

It’s just a matter of time before you get the following complaint: “John, you said we would only get 2”, we got a foot and a half. You suck. Get a real job.”

A term that was used a lot in the past and is not used so much any more is “weather prediction”, which is too bad because that’s what it is. It is not a certainty.

When fishing large bodies of water I do pay attention to forecasts and more often than not it’s uncanny how often they are correct, right down to wind direction and speed. But weather is a living, breathing thing. It does what it wants to.

Unfortunately, certain weather networks have turned weather reporting into a circus of over-reaction and in my opinion, have diminished the respectability and credibility of meteorology in general. For what it’s worth, John, you are a public figure (although not quite an icon yet) and as such, you will be subject to criticism. Take it as a badge of honor. I certainly am not typically criticized by total strangers, although it seems to happen around home on a regular basis.

Carry On….

No one got this forecast right, at least none that I saw, and I follow a few! Any whiners need to remember that John's last forecast for us was put together very early Friday morning. I watched no fewer than 2 Twin Cities tv stations that forecast the 6-12" snow line to be NORTH of the Twin Cities, as that was at 10 p.m. Saturday night! John saw the changes and gave us a special Sunday forecast. Then you have an idiot that changes the facts of your forecast. Do your best to consider the source and let it roll off your back, he's a 1 percenter! ;)

I find it funny that someone can get mad at you for something you have no control over? You call it like you see it and you're right a lot of the time. I wish I could live in that %$#@!'s world where everything and everyone is perfect.

Don't take it to heart

There are alot of people out there that think you "should" be God, and if you mess up , **** happens. We and You are human. That is why we have this website so us can all post the real happenings. Why can't we all get along.? As an example, Weather.com is still posting we are in a warning for more in NWWI, we got 2 inches today. I will believe it when I wake up and see it but if it doesn't happen, OH well, life goes on, noone died over it. Keep up the good work, and if you you need a hug and kiss, grab your dogs, they don't judge!

Thanks everyone. The venting helped a lot and all of your words of encouragement even more.

Today's a new day and the chin strap is already buckled.

As for posting their e mail addresses. It was tempting, but no. I am just thankful that I am not like them.

You're doing fine John, as Ski just said, "carry on". The last time I checked there were 16,553 of us that think you're doing a pretty good job.

Hang in there, nothing surprises around here after "superturbodiesel" and the multi personality/multi screen name guys. Lol. We all know mother nature changes her mind on a moments notice. Heck most of us are married to her!

Wow... I had all kinds of thoughts like, "what do those guys do for a living and I wonder if they have ever been wrong", "sure am glad I don't live with them", or "get over it", and "so don't go to the site". Even wondered if there was a way you could block IP addresses so they can't come back, but then I finished reading the threads and I came back to more of an emotional center from the first knee jerk reaction and I think the best post of all was your's from this morning basicly saying life goes on, but I did like the small dig of "I am thankful that I am not like them". .....So are we John, so are we..... X3 on the "carry on"!

As a reminder too, a lot of guys talked about getting this info for free. While that is true, there is a way to get these updates e-mailed to you every day by becoming a "member" so to speak and make a small donation to JD. Just click on the "learn more" link at the top of the forcast text page. Even if you don't want the emails, what better way to say thanks? Think of it like buying John a burger when you run into him at a lunch stop on the trail.

1st of all=THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO JOHN!! 2nd, I've come to the realization in life is that the only way miserable people in this world can get any enjoyment out of life is to try and bring people down to there level. if anyone ever wants to borrow it=I've got a big branding iron that is always ready to go, it's a big beautiful "L", and you plant one rite smack on their waterhead to warn all with a "W",and you John, def. have a "W"!!!!

John, I appreciate what you do. Take to heart that several people posted responses that have very low Posts counts. That says it all.

On any given day there are more people "watching" that are not signed up then us regulars. These people stepped out to also acknowledge thier thanks for what you provide us.

Sorry to hear about that John. As you can probably already tell from the overwhelming responses, those people are far and few between, but will always look to blame things on others. Keep doing what your doing! We all appreciate it.
