Indy_500, I'm glad you posted this story. It is refreshing and fun to see the excitement of new riders. I remember those days and your post brought back those memories. Fun times.
Well done Indy. I to feel a bit old seeing this. You were just a kid not long ago! Good on you for what you are doing with your life and that little boys as well!!
That'd be cool. Bunch of youngsters 6-10 tinkering on sleds. Or even just cleaning and dreaming.
An adult passing on some knowledge etc.
Currently I'm waiting on grandkids to get a 120 fix on can't wait. At least now my youngest is now planning on kids in near future.
Way to go for getting the next generation involved in our sport. It all comes full circle, it seems to me that you probably werent much older than him when you first started on this site. Man, time sure does fly.
Thanks for the kind words guys! He sure is in love with the thing. Yesterday he knew we were going to go for a trail ride after school and eat at Bean City, a local bar/restaurant (he calls it Mr. Bean LOL) but was bummed he cant ride his on the trails yet so i let him cruise around the yard for a half hour before we headed off to the trails on the pro x. I promised him he could ride his in the yard all night tonight and also that his new skis should be here by Friday. Mom got home from work 5 minutes after we got back from riding, first thing he said to her was "guess what mom i get to go snowmobiling again tomorrow!"
So great to hear that you are filling the void in this little guys life and now you are on the path to making life long memories that he will then strive to duplicate for his kids (this is what its all about)- Thank you for doing the right thing and please continue to mentor him. The saying that "it takes a village" is becoming more evident everyday as we can not depend on teachers and government officials to give our youth positive direction anymore-my boy was questioned by a teacher about his personal prayer of thanks before lunch last week.
Well, couldn't have a winter toy without a summer one! Picked up this little predator 90 not running, hoped it just needed a carb clean but it needed a new piston as it was 30 lbs low on compression. No biggie, $36 for a piston kit with gaskets and an hour to rebuild. He's all smiles!
