In the second poll we're asking you where you ride. For a few fortunate ones, you can ride right from your front door but most of us have to chase the snow. We broke it down into states and regions. Where do you ride the most often?

Gary should have broke MI into Upper & Lower 2 different worlds. Very rare anybody from WI going to ride MI lower that is IN playground but they still come to WI too.

Actually, three different worlds. Lower Michigan, Eastern UP, Western Up.

The third is my choice.

Yes, I was going to break it out into two, upper and lower, but then got to thinking about all the states and regions and we're limited to the number of categories we can use in the Poll. But you're right, there's not too many from Wisconsin going to the lower and vice versa.

Michigan as my first choice and Canada as my second!

I live on the WIOWASH trail by Larsen, but I prefer riding in Marathon county. They really take a lot of pride in their trails as far as opening and closeing them at the right times and they are always grooming them.

Thank you from Marathon Cty. It's always good to hear things like that.

Well, so far it looks like most of us are riding Polaris in the Upper Penninsula. Thanks for the response and watch for our 3rd installment coming up soon.

Interesting pattern so far. MN is a distant third with regard to the places members ride most often. Not sure if that reflects a choice of just the impracticality of the traveling distance to the permafrost of MN. I think John posed the question last year as to why more people don’t ride in Northern MN and it seemed like distance was the major factor.

If you’re not familiar with the area or don’t have connections in the area, Northern MN is probably not nearly as off-trail friendly as the U.P. but if you’re a pure trail rider that likes to rack up the miles (some routes can be over 100 miles between towns), you owe it to yourself to make a trip up there sometime

I go every summer to the area, but have never been in the winter. Maybe this year will be the year.

Shhhhh...... We that do frequent N MN enjoy the lack of traffic!

I also think this is a UP Driven web site, and there really isn't a comparable one for N MN.

My "offical" response would be MN, but off the record --- Anywhere there's snow!!! Had a great trip to the Black Hills last year & fully intend to go back ASAP, but I hope to get to the UP and WI this year also. Bit of a trek from DSM, IA but now that I've got the sled, anything and everything is on the table! The Wife has been warned, and the "Vacation Bank" is being saved up for sure.

Cass county MN so much more than any other place.

my wife refuses !!!! to go to MI ever again after we went for new years a few yrs back.I don't blame her I guess it was one of those yrs the only snow was twin lakes and houghton and north and we all know what it is like in that situation.

OK, I almost sprayed my Honey Nut cereal all over the keyboard on this one.</SPAN>

This is an extreme example but it’s a true story. A couple of years back, my brother and I made a loop from his place near Baudette, MN down to Big Falls, Northhome, Kelliher, Waskish, and back into Baudette. I don’t remember the exact mileage but it was in the 220 – 240 range. On the entire loop we met three sleds and two groomers. This was during the day and it wasn’t even 40 degrees below zero.

Yes, it can be cold but the local clubs have done a great job of setting up and maintaining shelters at points along the trail so if necessary, you can start a fire and warm up.
</SPAN>
Also, no passport is required. :)</SPAN>
