It's all in good fun Indy . I know not to bring my 13 Chevy 2500. I have to turn off the a/c to pass on the highway. Sad but true fact. FYI , I don't need dry pavement, I have E Lockers with 456 gears on 33 tires. :)

I have 373s with an open diff...

I still say do it for the ride in before the banquet.
I am sure it could raise a solid 5or6 hundo and get the largest audience with cams and video to post for yrs.
.
don't forget, that time of year good chance you will not have dry pavement. Often the highways are snow covered, even for weeks at a time.

guess the heavy truck will come in handy then. remember that is a bad thing in some circles to have a thicker frame and a more stout drive line.
I am sure for such a event we could find 20 bags of salt to dump in a lot

If you can afford the sled and Klim gear you can afford the gas, plus it's a great cause. You could've negotiated the bibs and jacket on the deal if you would've called:) I'm not sure but I think I hear the pitter patter of boots going backwards?? LOL!!! With the confidence you have in that rock solid overpowered Chev I don't know why you are even giving it a second thought Indy. Just think of the glory of having money going to your favorite charity, ah, you would be a hero to all Chevy fans out there:)

Difficult to think you didn't call Kip for the Klim gear since you ride that area. As far as the pull sounds like good fun & good cause.:)

Heavier frame yes more stout driveline than a chev I don't think so. Up until the 6 spd chev used the same trans for 20 years. I've now owned 3 trucks with over 170k miles with original trans on all of them. Ford half ton trans aren't too bad but can't keep one under a powerstroke.

I would be up for doing it during the winter as long as there's dry pavement.

Indy,
Whats wrong with the transmission in the powerstroke? I plow snow with mine and also pull descent sized loads with it without a problem. I had 129000 on my first one when I traded it on a 2012 6.7. Still wish I had the 06. I had zero issues with mine.

If you guys are hookin a chain on dry pavement your nuts. Hook em in the dirt so parts dont brake. Will still have a winner.

I have put transmitions in all of the big 3 hands down my ram was the winner but don't be under any delusions that gm is any better than ford I would give ford the edge but not by much best part of gm is they are cheaper

No chains for me, 20k strap and shackle. We will make sure Indy is wearing a hard hat and safety glasses.

Indy has been offered a paid for trip and still won't do it. That means he doesn't have confidence in his badass Chevy. So, to make a long story short lets just say he is a lot of hot air when it comes to this topic:) Even he apparently knows what the outcome would be.

Well my truck with a full tank of gas on the scale weights 4550lbs and I have an open diff. I would be all sorts of fired up to come if I had a locker in it soon, 1 wheel = no traction. Kind of a shame as many pickups all brands have open diffs, If I had one with G80 like all my previous probably wouldn't matter I burnt out all mine anyways, GM diffs don't hold a candle to Ford, their diffs and rear ends have always been better.

it comes down to driver experience, traction and torque, no doubt weight is huge. The truck screwed up big time nailing it and the VW still had his brakes on but the VW has a much better sus and driveline than the duramax. Many vw's have front and center locking dif. The vw is a 5 liter with 553 ft lbs and the duramax is a 6.6 liter with 650 ft lbs. With experienced drivers in each it may just come down to traction where the VW will have a strong advantage. The truck tried to yank the VW loos but lost his torque in the rear sus, would have been funny to hear it brake. Should have sucked that sus down first than powered easy, may have been a different outcome. I just posted it to show that sometimes the unexpected happens and what you think the more capable looses because of experience. Beware, the women voice is so annoying!

western power show 2 066.jpg western power show 2 065.jpg OK indy it has moved past this forum the word is out that your chevy started dripping when it found out it was challenged by a ford.
well now the talk has moved from just JD to dealer network shows in Bloomington MN.
the Indy manhood is not looking good at this point at least in the chatter in Bloomington.

Was real curious how they planned to stop corrosion from road salt!!

I agree I think peeling paint with corroded aluminum behind it will look much worse. Steel takes A LOT longer to rust than aluminum does to corrode from road salt. If everyone actually took care of their vehicles, washed them once a week in the winter and oiled up all their body panels from the inside rust wouldn't be a problem. It will definitely be interesting to see how it holds up. My buddies dads Mercury Montego hood is aluminum whole front half of it the paint has pretty much peeled off.
