Trail permits

This is a very interesting discussion.... It appears that $45 is enough to strike a nerve in some people! xsledder your last statement was crude. Mentality like this only gives snowmobilers a bad rap. I hope no harm is done if you decide you want to overtake someone on the trail in WI or MN!

What exactly was crude about it? The last statement in the parathesis was a response, or yes you could say a dig, at snobuilder's statement on post #97. Basically the point I was trying to get across was that just because if someone's opinion, don't make an assumption about the type of rider they are. You never know until you ride with someone. Right? Looking at it I could have worded differently but I was looking for impact.

Best thing anyone said on this tread in the last 50 posts!

Sorry, couldn't keep the promise. Even though blu2u2 didn't insult anyone, I just didn't see what was crude about when you look at the entire thread and I'm curious to know where he's coming from is all.

I doubt that trail permit cost increases, since the permanent fuel price gouge began in '08, cover the increased cost of trail maintenance fuel.

Lift tickets to major ski resorts $90-100 a day, 1 round of Golf at awesome golf course $100- ?. Snowmobiling for a entire season on the best snow east of the rockies(usually)$45. Can't beat it even if you only use your permit a day or two. Think snow

HUH?...i know thats not a threat.

chit, no matter how or where or what type of riding i'm doing ie; aggressive or cruisng, i pull over and let any individual or group go by should they come up behind me and want to go by....it is only good rider etiquette.

PLEASE explain why you would disagree with me.

Why you ask???, you have no clue do you. Please stay home. Disagreeing with you does not make us incorrigible. We just simply have more indepth information to the reasoning for the price of the permits. Remember we also pay the $45 same as everyone else. Statistics also show that Registration and trail permit cheats are more likely to steal gas from the pump, has expired plates and Insurance, dine and dash, steal from their motel rooms and cheat on their taxes. Along with a feeling of entitlement.

I had to re-read the title of this thread. After reading the last part i thought you were talking about our elected officials......

Anyone making less than 50K should ride free then 50K to 75K pay double and 75K to 100K pay triple and the over 100K group pay times 10.

Yea, but then the riders making less than 50K would complain that the riders making 100K or more are not paying their fair share and would want them to pay for their sleds, gas and oil too. Oh, and free lodging and food too.

Well it looks like I've made up my mind. I will stay south of the border. I've sat on a few stools in Wisconsin and had some very good conversations with natives and travelers like myself. It's obvious to me at this point that I can not afford to travel in or sit on any stools in Michigan. After seeing the path that this thread took I'm not sure I want to.

Peace out girl scouts, I will not be back to this thread.

This thread is funny the people complaining probably paid almost as much for a single lap dance.
Hey was you the guy sitting next to me! Lol. "Saying, me next, me next"
Heck I still don't have my permit. My beater Dodge has more lights in various colors on, in the dash than my wife has christmas light up. Yellow engine sign means caution right? My trailer is shared with 2 other guys, it is a pc. Of crap R&R, no fancy pants triton, and yes Skylar my sled has a payment book also.

yep that was me thanks for the handkerchief for wiping the drool off my chin. A little tech tip for the lights on your dash electric tape work wonders on covering those lights up.

I think the point trying to be made with the mention of expensive tow vehicles, etc. Was ment to play down the $45 as a miner amount compared to the other related expenses of this sport/addiction. That is why I mentioned that a gallon of Poo oil cost more than the permit. Has nothing to do with being able to afford anything it is just a comparison. To dis me about not knowing what's up in the snowmobiliing world only makes me laugh. I live it 24/7 365. My children were concieved on sleds and are named after top sled sales people I know. Wife of 32 years lived on the same trail as I did as a kid but in the next town over. she had a way cool Yamaha Vmax I liked to ride. ( just giving you the tip of it)
Point is the $45 is a percieved value, if one is into truely riding then the $45 is a value, if not then it isn't. Nuff said.

Well done on getting the "impact". In looking at snobuilder's post #92 I can somewhat see were you are coming from. Maybe my post earlier today shouldn't have been made... In a perfect world all slower riders would pull over to let the faster ones go by. We all know that this is not the case. Rider etiquette and respecting others is something that is taught in snowmobile safety classes....With the big Jan. thaw I think everyone is a little on edge!
