Trail permits

PolarisDan, Indy_500, polarisrider1 you are being incorrigible (John, I am not name calling nor is it a bad word). It is none of your business as to why I'm on this site. And I ask you; WHY SHOULD I GO TO MI AND BUY A PERMIT????

And Indy_500, defend your comment about complaining. (And your use of statistics was a little off.)

You are so right, the place that you are at ,is the best place ever, because you said so?

Why you ask???, you have no clue do you. Please stay home. Disagreeing with you does not make us incorrigible. We just simply have more indepth information to the reasoning for the price of the permits. Remember we also pay the $45 same as everyone else. Statistics also show that Registration and trail permit cheats are more likely to steal gas from the pump, has expired plates and Insurance, dine and dash, steal from their motel rooms and cheat on their taxes. Along with a feeling of entitlement.

But if it weren't for them, the whole state of Mi.would starve. Get over your selves, the locals will get buy with out your 45$ trail permit.
I'm really getting tired of these few people ,thinking that if it wasn't for them ,the people in the north woods would die. Of course there are snowmobile business that need the cash.there are a lot of other people that could care less that you come. Do us all a favor,if you can't part with the 45$ ,stay at home.

Is there something in a Polaris' exhaust??? You might like to think you have more indepth knowledge about the price of permits. Your post is quite possibly the most uninformed post of this thread. No, I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me. I would not have a problem paying $45 if I would get more out of it like living in MI or near there. However, not in one of my posts have I ever told anyone to quit complaining about the cost, or just pay the $45, or stay home, you, Indy_500, and POLARISDAN are!!! So who is actually being the (insert your own word here)? So far I have had two Mighiganders tell me to stay home; fine, I'll skip your state if that's how you treat people. So much for your Pure Michigan ads. (I can think of something else that is pure Michigan right about now.)

What I'm going to do now is quit discussing this topic (unless someone is insulting) by which a vast number of people on this site have absolutely no empathy towards people who actually feel Michigan might have gone over top with their $45 permit, and now Michigan might actually be losing revenue for their trails. (Like the Laffer Curve.) I don't care if you feel the $45 permit is worth it, that's fine. But don't jump on Pitch, Whitedust, chop, Ramsey, myself, and others with your arguements of 30K trucks, 12K sled, oil, food, rooms, other States, other Countries, etc...it don't mean #2 to me. Trust me, I don't have a problem with it being $45 because like so many of you have told me, I won't go. (But, I might overtake you on a trail in Wisconsin or Minnesota. I all depends how I want to ride that day or moment.)

This is a very interesting discussion.... It appears that $45 is enough to strike a nerve in some people! xsledder your last statement was crude. Mentality like this only gives snowmobilers a bad rap. I hope no harm is done if you decide you want to overtake someone on the trail in WI or MN!

Hey guys! It's snowing in the UP! Get your sleds loaded and ready to roll, or don't and stay home! It's all good!
Have a good day!

Everyone needs to calm down, ok?

To answer the original question, yes, I do think a 3 day pass would be a nice option. Now, I would not need it, as I only have one sled, but for a family of 4-5, yes, I could see how they would like that option.

To the rich guys on here who think everyone has a 30K truck, 12K sled, 7k trailer, not everyone has that kind of money, quit thinking of yourselves, or your group. I have an 11 year old truck, that I paid 6k for, my group has a 13 year old 4 place open trailer, that we paid $2400 dollars for, and I, yes, I do have a 10k sled, that I make payments on every month. So, not everyone has the high dollar items that some people think is needed for snowmobiling.

This sport has people in it from every wage bracket, some can afford to go to the U.P. a lot, and some can only afford to go once a year, if they are lucky. In the mid 90's, when my daughter was born, and we just bought our house, I could only afford to go up once, maybe twice a year, for a weekend. Yes, trail permits were cheaper back then, but my wife and I combined were making around $15 an hour. I was LUCKY I could afford to go up there for a weekend.

If people do not remain civil discussing this topic, I will just shut it down.

HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT? I dont think a 3 day pass at a lower rate $30 ? will make a difference. Its all the other costs involved, fuel , lodging, meals, etc, I dont think many of us are independantly wealthy, we all work hard and dream all summer about that perfectly groomed trail , that perfect boondockng area , the snow in the pines , thats what makes us want it. $45 for a chance at that! I WILL GLADLY PAY !
