But isn't the issue here legal decibel levels and not whether the noise is being created on public or private property?

( .... did it make a noise) If there's no one around to hear it ...did it make a noise. But if law enforcement doesn't do anything about it, it does make a noise if someone does hear it. I would like to see businesses refuse service to loud vehicles, be it sleds, bikes or trucks.
Ban the Can thread If obviously over legal noise levels, a gas station could refuse to sell to them when they come in blipping the throttle, bikes and trucks do it all the time too. They have the right to refuse service, wish they would. We as a group need to self govern ourselves to keep from losing more trails. I know that it is not safe to confront the law breakers face to face (they can get hostile) If there were more business owners that would refuse service to the offenders, that may save some trails . Granted they would be able to get fuel, food whatever somewhere else. But maybe word would get around, if you are loud you may have issues finding services. All you people that have that gift of gab, should make mention of this when talking to business owners, managers, that have concerns about the state of sledding and closure of trails. That may impact their business, not by choice. If they choose to lose a small bit of business, it may save their entire business. I know that trail closure, or no more snowmobiles may not close them down completely, but it may well impact their retirement date, or amount of hours they have to be on site because they can't hire employees.
