Land ownership changes with time. Either by sale or transfered thru a Family Death or Trust.

And new ownership wants to simplify responsibilty and dealings with the many voices of trustees and siblings and have morning coffee in piece. Whether there or at home 600 miles away.

Yet, another thought with the ever growing number of four strokes. I dont care how quiet the four strokes are, their basey exhaust note will still vibrate my house as they pass by. When I'm outside, I can barely hear them. But if I go inside, I don't so much hear them as feel them. Kinda like how you can feel the base from a car stereo before they get close enough to hear. Its like that song, all about that base, bout that base, bout that base..... It doesn't take long until it gets on your nerves. Maybe this is what the property owner is experiencing.
;)

4 strokes have been out for quite some time now so that is highly unlikely. I can guarantee you it's the excessively loud can. They have grown in numbers & louder than should be for general public use. Simply put, this has to stop. The general public has had enough as well.-Mezz

State Regulations for Snowmobiles

With the kind of widespread knowledge shown by the survey here, is there any wonder there are problems with losing trail easements?

State Regulations for Snowmobiles from Trusted Choice[SUP]1[/SUP]: (click →) "The New Snowmobile Laws You Need to Know." (Be sure to check the survey results. — Of course JD members are surely more knowledgeable than that! But it does give you an idea of what y'all are dealing with.) Excerpt:
"It's common knowledge that you must renew your driver's license every couple years. But what if your favorite mode of transportation is a snowmobile?

In a December 2014 TrustedChoice.com survey of snowmobile enthusiasts, 37% said they check for updates to their state's snowmobile regulations annually, while 39% of respondents don't. However, almost a quarter of respondents didn't realize that regulations were updated and that they should check them regularly, so if that group includes you, now is a great time to get up to speed."
And incidentally, also from Trusted Choice[SUP]1[/SUP]: (click →) "Snowmobile Insurance 101." — That might be helpful information for sled jockeys.

([SUP]1[/SUP] Trusted Choice® is a national brand that represents the 140,000 Licensed Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.)

Maybe it's been already said here but the

Harley pipes (on PUBLIC roads) vs. loud sled pipes (on PRIVATE land)

argument is old, tired and just plain NOT RELEVANT to one another!!!!!

Ok....I have an idea for all you people that want to compare Harley's to sleds.

Go onto any popular Harley Rider site (equivalent to the popularity of this site for snowmobilers) and shout out to them that "it's just not fair that Harley's can have loud pipes and us snowmobilers can't...I want loud pipes banned on Harley's".

Faster than you can read your fresh post, some "Son's of Anarchy" types are going to find out where you live (it can be easily done) and stop in for a little "chat" with you.

Go ahead......go for it!

So now you are posting threats on behalf of 'sons of anarchy' types?....or are you saying that type a thuggery would work to shut up them that are apposed to LOUD BRAAAAAAP silencers on the trails.?

Under your model....Fergusen MO. riots would be right and the law would be wrong.

Good thought groomerdriver.

I'm not scared, 99.9% are wannabes. I have had a few beers with the real deal, I don't think they would care.

Lets remember this all started about losing a trail. And we to focus on how to prevent trails from closing no matter what the cause, and whether you like it or not.

I am shocked by the noise of sleds that are out in the woods off trail.

We stay at a place that has trail 2 running within a mile of the front door. (I'm curious about which section of the trail is being closed.)

There is a lot of brapping going on behind the place in the woods. It does seem like the owners of sleds with cans love the sound. This past weekend was pretty noisy in the woods. I hear the loggers sometimes, but the sleds were louder than any loggers.

People are used to hearing the logging in that region, but the sleds were over the top.

I'd really like to know what section of trail is having an issue? The "Off Trail" noise was far worse in the area we know well along trail 2.

I have been noticing the last few years in the UP that the sleds that seem to be making the braaap sound are the ones with the rider standing up, wearing his backpack with shovels strapped onto their longer track sleds. It is rare to see a real trail sled making much noise. Closing a trail because of the noise coming from the ever increasingly popular off trail riders with cans on their sleds to save weight isn't going to solve the problem. These guys will still be out in the woods making noise.

yep out in the wood on state or fed owned land . 90% of the time I trailer to my destination so I can avoid your crazy highway .
I would be willing to bet the farm trail 2 will be open next yr.
I deal with re routs all the time not some uncommon thing we are dealing with people the world is not going to stop spinning because 1 land owner was over it.
I still want to know why a state like MI is not spending the money on easements.
**** all clubs should be spending money on easements. new drag or easement the drag always comes first and that is a big part of the prob

OK...I admit all I've seen is the trailers for the SoA series. How's about the ****'s Angels?

How many cans of woop *** now....99% keyboard heroes?

Same amount.....is the prediction.

Is this statement directed at MI only clubs?

I have been complaining for years about loud sleds in Bergland. I have even stopped people from coming into my Bar because they were Brapping all the way through town at night. Put some pressure on business owners too, why do we serve people or rent to people that we know are only bringing harm to our livelihood?

I agree Tom
