What boots and socks do you wear?

I do not know if the boots or socks are my problem. I wear carhartt wool/synthetic socks with rocky ice fishing boots and my feet get horribly wet. They don't sweat a whole lot, but I just don't get why they get so wet. Just curious how many of you have true snowmobiling boots or have ice fishing boots. And, what socks you recommend.

I use the Polaris Extreme 3 boots and my regular hanes white socks. I haven't had any problems with cold feet or excessive moisture.

You may be layering up too much and sweating with all of that gear on. Keep your feet tucked in that xc and you'll be plenty warm ;)

I wear a Rocky boot with 1000 grams of Thinsulate.
They are nice and light, and my feet almost never get wet or cold. I wear just any sock out of the drawer with these boots, with no problems.

I would try thinner, less warm socks. Might not be a good idea to try it on a -30F* day though. And I would not use any cotton socks.

I rode this weekend in sub-zero temps and my feet were soaking wet. I didn't think they were sweating much but I guess they were.

Yeah, but did you guys stop for lunch anywhere? Did you sit in a resturant or bar for more than 15 mins? It dont take much for feet to sweat. At least for lots of people. Others feet never sweat. Just the way it is.

I use a pair of silk liner socks ,Gerbings heated insoles regulate to heat required and a pair of Yamaha snowmobile boots. Never have a problem because I can set any degree of warmth required. I am diabetic so I have poor circulation in my feet. My daughter-in law who always has cold feet is now set up the same way and she is very happy to be out in any temperture.

Indy,

I recommend Klim boots with thin first sock that breathes. Dress socks work good. It allows your feet to wick moisture and breathe. A good second layer sock is Smartwool heavy weight. (REI carries them). I have had this set up for 3 years and not one time have my feet been cold. Prior I wore Sorrel Boots and my feet were always cold and wet. Just my story and experience. I have a buddy who "bucked up" this winter with Klim boots and nothing but raves from him. Hope it helps

X2 on the Klim boot's, I also wear the Klim sock's. Someone pointed on this earlier, When sitting at lunch indoor's I always untie my boots to let them Breath, Or just get the stink out. If your not planning on getteing new boot's, Try the thinner sock's like the rest of the fella's said.
