What does everyone think of the new board

I guess I`ll need to upgrade to a widescreen monitor. With all the info you get now it seems skinnier???

I will get use to it because I like JD, but it is just the same as all other message boards, and that was one thing I liked about the old JD. It was different, and not just the same old format.

It was simple, and simple is good.

Professional opinion:
1. Some "features" of the initial startup were annoyingly "counter-intuitive".
2. A bazillion more features, some quite valuable, some appear to be of limited utility, some could tend to fragment the community.
3. The calendar is a great addition!
4. I was aware that the former passwords could not be imported due to their being encrypted, but I really wish I had known that the personal profile content would be lost as well. Had I known that, I would have captured my original profile data so I wouldn't have to recreate it all from thin air. See note 1.
5. Apparently one bit of gratuitous profile info was provided, free of charge, namely the following (huh?) ...
"Home Page URL:=;0=;0=New+Lenox;0=;0=IL;0=Never+slow+down+never+get+old%2c+just+more+bruised+and+battered;0=66;0=M;

I hope when you sign on, you go to the last reply in that post. Looks like many other forums I belong to. I like it.

I knew I should have taken today off, hope the boss don't catch me...Could play on here all day today figuring stuff out. Since there ain't snow on the ground gives me something to do. Love the photo albulm part....

The following features appear to be turned off:

Smilies are Off
code is Off
HTML code is Off

Are these "locked" in that state, or can I turn 'em on?
(If I can use 'em, obviously I haven't discovered that yet!)

Hmmmm...

It looks like when you re-apply for your new password you lose all your old info and start over as a brand new member. My boss isn't liking the naked bikini girl on the right side of the screen on every page either.

If you click on the little arrow to the right of the name of the last person to post in any given thread it will take you right there

I like it, as it's the same software that most other boards I use, use.. (if you can follow that... );-)

Except the fact that it says I'm a Junior member, when I've been reading and commenting on the site since it's inception.. I know, I know, it's based upon number of posts or something like that.


I don't have to like it tho...

Amen to that! It "yoosta" take long enough to peruse all the new posts on a small number of selected topics. I can see this ballooning into countless topics, which will likely take a lot longer to read! :)
