Who have you met on JD

Has anybody tried doing a JohnDee weekend ride somewhere? It would be great to join up with local enthusiasts on this site. I personally live in the Twin Cities and don't have enough friends to ride with, so building some additional connections is something I would love to do. If anybody from MN is interested in trying to plan a weekend this year we should start a new thread to plan something (or more than one if the snow allows).

I understand this request seems more fitting for the ride board, but felt it to be fitting on this thread.

I've had this identical thought for my area here in Madison. When we get good snow again I'll kick out a thread on the ride board for a impromptu JD ride here in the Madison area. Beautiful trails and scenery always to be found here.

I've been following John for many years and I greatly appreciate what he has built on this site for us sledders. I may not post much but it doesn't mean I don't have the same passion or opinions of this sport or off topics. I choose to browse as time and other interests beyond here take over. I do appreciate the input by all here as I'm always willing to learn and listening to others experience and opinions.

I too am looking for new riders to ride with so feel free to contact me via PM to see what we can work out.

Happy Trails and Happy Thanksgiving!

I met Team Elkhorn (Dave) and rode with him around Walworth County and it was great. I think he gave up the sleds. I'm always willing to meet up with other riders especially if it is only a few hours from Chicago area. I think a lot of people, myself included, are wary of meeting up with riders that ride differently than they do. You don't want to slow others down, and you don't want to ride too fast for others-or stop too much, or not enough etc. At the same time, people shouldn't be afraid to post that "conditions are great here in Dane county and I'm going riding from Joe's bar or whatever at 8am Saturday." That would be great.

Any thoughts on a birthday ride? Cuz my Bday is 2 days later

I had to restart my 'puter cuz my wireless keyboard went nuts. As of this afternoon it looks like I'm back in the saddle again, but will wait till the t's are crossed and the I's are dotted!

You know you are always welcome here (as is anybody really) and snirt125 too. Don't know how snirt rides but I'm up for anything once!

Seeing that 12-23 is on a Friday I'm in for a ride anywhere but MN (no offense MN guys!).

I've ridden with:

sweeperguy
harski
xcr440

I've met:
Kip
John Dee in the flesh!

I'm sure I'm missing folks...apologies!

I'm up for it as long as it doesn't turn into a big testosterone run where everybody is just trying to outrun and out brag each other. Heck I'll coordinate one over my way this season!

Yep I think Dave and wife got out due to lack of snow and had some vintage iron he could ride in Elkhorn in low snow conditions. On you other point riding expectations.... I/we meet with new persons for lunch/beer & discuss frankly what is going to happen out there. Talk about amount of miles and how fast, where, lunch, outdoor trails stops should never be a problem nature calls you stop..lol. If not a match or not sure walk away friends or agree to meet halfway on the trail someplace so you can ride your pace get the need for speed fed....Works for me.

PolarisDan, Dan's son, Ezra, Ezra's buddy Joe, Bonnevier, Kip (in passing), rp7x, SMS and a few others I don't know screen names. Had a great time riding with each and every one. There may be some "attitudes" on the site, but when it comes time to ride, it all works itself out. We all have a common goal. We all spend A LOT of money on the sport and when the VERY SMALL window of opportunity opens, we rely on sites like these to find others wanting to get out. Sites like this make it possible. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

oh yea..forgot about 600 rmk since hes only a deep tracker now!!!

The list of guys I've met because of this site has to be pushing a mile long. I've ridden with a countless number of them in the Keweenaw, and become friends with so many of them it's pretty crazy to think that a forum like this could bring so many guys together because of a sport they are all passionate about. Heck I even skipped town and headed out west with a crew mostly from here, never stayed with or ridden with the majority of them but yeah I guess I'll spend 3500 miles in the truck and 10 days on the road with ya!

I agree Indy, the list would be too long and I'd forget someone for sure. One thing every single one of them had in common (other than sledding of course) is they were very good people!! It's always fun to meet a JD'er!!

I sold one of my sleds to venturenorth who whitedust introduced me to.

When I bought my first enclosed trailer I turned to all of you on this site for guidance which helped me avoid having to learn the hard way narrowed down exactly what I wanted to order.

Last year when I wanted to order my first pickup truck ever, I turned to you guys for help making a decision as to which one to buy (1/2 ton vs. 3/4).

I for one am thankful on this Thanksgiving day for having a place to go for advice, opinions and to meet people to ride with who love the sport as I do.

THANK YOU JOHN DEE!

I am thankful for local riders - I have made many friends. I would love to ride with all you folks, but I've only rode on trails (50 years old - 2015 Ski Doo Blizzard 600). I don't mind riding all day long. I've got 5 weeks vacation & save it to ride but can't find anyone to ride with locally. Not really interested in riding off trail - but i appreciate all those that do. If my riding style fits in in with anyone, would really like to hear from you. Thanks!
