Sorry P1, your suspicians are in fact wrong. It was I and my girlfriend at the time and we resided in the Soo on the Michigan side. We were on our way to Searchmont. They only asked three questions of the both of us and they were in fact answered politely and without hesitation. Maybe you should keep your assumptions to yourself??
And as far as your bunk argument about not living in America, for the sake of argument yes I suppose you are correct, we live in the United States. I guess that means you don't call yourself an American? You must call yourself an United Statesman? Guess what? You're the only one!
And as far as counting the things we own that weren't made in the USA, it would all be a waste of time because unfortunately in the world we live in at the present time our markets here in the United States (like that? United States!) are flooded with overseas products. I was just suggesting that if you have the opportunity to spend some vacation money to go sleddin' maybe it would feel good to spend it where your own currency is made.
And I'll concede on this one! You're right! It's a shame we have to go into restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, gas stations and grocery stores where the person waiting on you can't speak a lick of English. But I also wonder how many of those accents you will find at Tog, the snowies, Yellowstone, U.P. or the Northwoods of Wisconsin? Just a thought.
All I was doing in my original post as I just stated a post or two ago, was to warn the people reading this thread that it isn't always as easy as load up the sleds, stop at the bridge, answer a couple of questions and WOOHOO we're off to a Winter Wonderland. 'Nuff said..........
I have never had a big issue crossing. I have relatives in Toronto that I have crossed hundreds of times to visit (from birth to present 51 yrs.) and never had an issue. It would not be fair to try and scare off "americans" from going to Canada and riding there. For Gods sake they are our neighbors not our enemies. I love visiting my friends in Wawa and never had an issue doing so. I have crossed with 12 drunks (non would pass a piss test) before to go fish in Nakina hauling 30 cases of Blue light , brought back 5 fish each no problem. Love the fly in fishing and snowmobiling there. "Americans" don't let a few questions stop you from going. Doing my taxes is 10 times the presure as crossing the border.. Out of guilt I will skip my next Eroupean Vaction as not to spend US dollars out of state. NOT!!!!!.
